"It was absolutely close to the train station; 1 minute walk. It was clean and the breakfast buffet was good. The airco worked as a heater during our stay in May and it took one (very warm!!) night before we found out that in May the airco is a heater and only during June, July and August it serves as a cooler."

"Location, friendliness & cleanliness were excellent. Internet access for those without a laptop would have been helpful as would more space to place two suitcases without tripping over them. We had a bit of fun with communication problems but that is part of the fun of travelling. The tourist information centre nearby were a great help."

"Location was great, a few minutes walk from the train station. The room smelled of cigarette smoke, but otherwise very clean. We were there for the Spring Festival, and the desk clerk knew very little basic information about the festival and was not tremendously helpful-I suggest the tourist information booth directly across from the train station."

"This hotel has an excellent location close to the train station and in the center of the city. It was easy to walk to all of the sites and to shop. However, the size and quality of the room did not justify the high rate that we were charged. "

"The staff were very helpful however spoke a limited amount of English. The hotel's position just 3 minutes from the railway was excellent. Australians visiting Japan need to realise that bathrooms are more like bath "cubicles" and this was no exception. However, toiletries, yukatas and slippers were supplied which seems to be customary for Japanese hotels of this standard. The property has two restaurants and it was great to be able to have a western breakfast. We just loved Takayama and found it a suitable place from which to visit Shirakawa-go. Takayama & Shirakawa-go should not be missed and the Best Western Hotel is a perfect place to stay. It was good to be able to open a window and get some fresh air. "

"My sister and I are mature aged Australians and we could not fault this hotel. It had a warm room, (it was freezing outside when we visited)and had everything travellers needed including slippers, yukata, hair dryer. Staff were friendly and most importantly it was a 3 minute walk from the station. Also close to all the town's attractions. We really enjoyed our stay in Takayama!"
