Following another review of the hotel, I also took a taxi ride that costed me 660 yen from the Crowne Plaza to the Annex (if you do take a taxi, it's called Hayashi), but after seeing where it was, it really wasn't that far. Other than that, the hotel was great, especially for the price. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who was traveling to tokyo with a budget, but don't get me wrong, by no means is it a bad place, but if you prefer extravagence such as the Park Hyatt, this place might not be that high on your list. Everything about this hotel is practical and effecient, which is what I personally prefer because honestly, a hotel for me is just a place to rest up before the next day. The service was great, very clean, I was actually thinking it might be like a motel 6 over here in the states, but was I wrong. I don't know if they provide internet but with my laptop, I was able to use an unsecure WIFI network which suited me just fine and another thing I'm not sure is if other hotels provide 110v, because they do. One big thing I realized however was it's distance from the train station, it's a few blocks away and if you're coming back from a long day late at night, you'll be bombarded with men in black suits trying to solicit you for something I was never able to put my finger on, and it's a little difficult trying to dodge these guys since from the train station to the hotel, they occupy every street corner. I would still highly recommend this place to all my friends and when I go back, I will more than likely stay here again because you can't beat the pricing and cleanliness. Gets the job done I guess is what I'm trying to get at here.

"Nice place for a short stay in Tokyo. Well located within no more than ten minutes to Ikebukuru Station, restaurants of various styles, and shopping places. The only problem is that there is no kettle for you to make a tea or coffee for yourself. "

"Well located hotel. Probably more suited towards the younger crowd, but would be alright for anyone of any age. The staff are all really nice and easy to talk to in English. Recommend for nearly anyone looking for a bargain."

"Your +/- bar rating tool above doesn't seem to work, at least on my computer. Sakura Hotel Ikebukuro was a bit old and dirty, and I would not stay there again, though I think it might be a reasonable choice for budget travelers. The Internet availability was very inconvenient compared to all the other hotels I stayed at in Japan -- only available in the lobby of the hotel, where it was crowded with very limited places to sit. What most bothered me was that the front desk refused to drop something in the mail for me when I was checking out to return to the U.S. I was returning my rented cell phone to a Japan address. I have never been in another hotel where something as simple as placing something into the mail was a problem. This seemed to me rude and ridiculous."

"Hotel is near to the Ikebukuro station.Need sometime to find the direction to the hotel. Its about 10 mins walk from the station. Many good japanese food outlets and a 100 yen shop nearby.Friendly counter staff & nice clean room. Will stay again in this hotel."
