"Excellent service, very nice chalets, very big rooms. Breakfast soso. Nice for couples, not suitable for older people or people who cannot climb long stairways. The resort is on the other side of the Mekong, so you have to take a boat each time you want to go to town. There is a long stairway down to the river; in the dry season, when the water is shallow, you have to climb about 20 meters in height each time you leave or come back to the hotel. They say they charge 3$ per boat transfer and person, and 5$ for the car ride to downtown (appr. 4km). They didn't charge me."

"The resort itself is nice & it should be said we were there in the off season. That may possibly have colored our experience somewhat. The room was large, pleasant & comfortable, but contrary to their advertising, there was no phone. "Not working yet". If we had any problem, we were advised to trot down to the office to tell them about it. Bit of a drag when it's raining. The shower enclosure was beautifully designed, but badly installed, I guess. In any case, the shower doors leaked so badly there was a constant puddle of water on the bathroom floor. The view across the Mekong from the dining plaza was pleasant enough when it wasn't raining. The staff were polite & eager to please, but the one night we ate there they screwed up our dinner order, charging us for something we ordered that they didn't have & bringing us two of something else we'd ordered one of. And in a country where Lao kip, US dollars or Thai baht are all in common use, I was surprised how much trouble they had converting currency. At one point the waiter calculated our dinner bill (that actually cost a little under 900 baht) at 181,000 baht (about $5,300 US). I'm sure it wasn't intentional, but I had a hard time disabusing him of the notion. Another thing that put us off was that the boat dock on the far side of the Mekong is only reached via an unlighted country lane & is a lot harder to negotiate by night than by day. Unless you fix the time you plan to return, they advise you to phone them for pickup, but we couldn't see anyplace nearby to phone from. It really is a nice resort & they're trying hard, but it seems to be very new & they haven't quite worked the bugs out yet. "

"Great location across the Mekong from the town. Only drama is the 93 steps up to the resort!!!! Staff could not be more friendly. When westayedat the end of the season we were the only guests so the boat to town ran when we wanted and the staff were so good. Managerwas a darling too and made surewehad fruit straight from the trees and local whisky cocktails to try "
