"Don Chan Palace is a large hotel that mentions lots of services, but in actuality, is better on paper. Location along Mekong River, but must take a taxi to get into town. Really cannot walk from hotel to restaurants, except the River area which is about 2 km away. TukTuk's cannot come into hotel (huge parking lot), so have to walk out to get one. Taxi's from hotel are expensive, but to walk out to street to get one is a big deal. Front desk staff were very helpful in arranging english speaking guides - concierge people had difficulty speaking english. One restaurant open, although they say they have many in website, all others closed. Food average."

"Hotel an eyesore, stayed in a suite but very basic. Could not eat in the chinese Restaurant as they had a private party, main Restaurant did not serve the requested food and was very bland. The locals we met laughed at this hotel, would not recommend."

"Being the tallest hotel in Vientiane, I was really blown away with the uniqueness of the hotel. The staff was exceptionally friendly and I felt like I am in my own home. They addressed me with my name eventhough my stay was 2 nights and the food was great! I had a pleasant stay and the view was perfect. The only hotel with a view of the whole Mekong River and Vientiane city view. I have no doubt in recommending this hotel to any travellers, be it business or leisure. "

"This hotel was one of the finest in Laos, I couldnt think of any. Well, the staff was very friendly and courteous, they have this unique asian touch. The overall service was excellent. This is what i call 5 star service. Eventhough my holiday there was for only 2 days but it was memorable and worth the penny. My kids enjoy the pool and wants me to bring them back again. Maybe, the hotel was not as busy as other Asian hotel but surely will fair well in future . Kudos for Don Chan Palace. Would strongly recommend."

"The customer is NEVER right here, i was charged for pool guests, i disagreed with staff and management and was not shown anywhere in writing where this fee existed, but i still had to pay $5 per pool guest. Whenever room was cleaned the floor was not vacuumed. Safe in room didn't work properly. Air conditioning wasn't cool enough. We had to call every day about a problem with the room. Rooms not very sound proof, could hear water in bathroom from other rooms and television and conversations through the walls. Paid for a superior room but was put in a classic. Checkout took 15 minutes. I will never stay here again and i suggest you do the same!"
