"Front desk and restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. Enjoyed our stay. Will visit again. Thank you."

"Service was friendly but sometimes a bit not up-to-speed even though I was communicating in hotel staff's native Cantonese. Facilities are quite good for a hotel of this size, the pool is small but usable, the dining outlets were almost empty most of the time, but the coffee shop looks nice. Even though it is an "antique hotel" it is still equipped with most mod-cons, and the wooden furniture inside the room is all well-kept. Most unfortunate event was the extra and definitely unexpected guest in the bathroom - a cockroach no less. We decided to deal with it ourselves to avoid the fuss with hotel staff. "

"Worn rooms that are NOT 5 star in any respect. Location was not near anything of interest to tourists. Even though we got a discounted rate, the place was still a very poor value."

"I am really pleased with my stay at the hotel above mentioned. Highly qualified personal, managers in particularly in excellent customer service and public relation. The rest of the staff really friendly and at the same time really professional. excellent for couple getaways... i will be back there A++++++++++++++"

"The hotel is very unique and is a good experience to stay, at least once in a life time. The minus point is that transportation is not that convenient, and it is quite a distance away from the city area. While the rooms are generally clean, we noted that there were a few mosquitoes flying around in the room when we moved the blanket."

"the room is very clean and big. and the services is excellent. very suitable for couple."

"Stayed for 3 nights December 06. Service was fantastic right from the complimentary collection from the ferry terminal onwards. Vista room with balcony was very nice, in a traditional classic style very much in keeping with this historic property. No teamaking facilities = the only thing missing. Balcony view looking out over the river towards China but there was a fairly busy road across the front of the hotel too. Lots and lots of stairs and no lift so not great for less mobile persons or families with buggys etc. Os Gatos Restaurant very good, the De barra cafe restaurant is now closed. There was some minor renovation work ( just 2 workers all we could see) but this did not detract from our stay at all. Lonely Planet Guide book warned that the hotel had been gutted for expansion but this was not the case (yet).Still great Hotel for romantics looking for something different to the typical modern hotel. Dec06. Hotel is 20 min walk from Macau centre but taxis and buses are plentiful. Is close to Ama temple, and to great restaurants like A lorcha. "

"No lift available at the hotel, which means having to trudge up the stairs after a long tiring day of sightseeing. However, the atmostphere at the hotel and peaceful surrounding outside the hotel makes up for it - houses built at the side of the hill, 2 lakes, bayview and Macau Tower. Transport is very easy as there is a bus terminal across the road. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant, and after discount it cost only S$50 for two of us with a glass of red wine in fine dining. "

"This is an old-style hotel that is not suitable for those with kids or those who need facilities other than a bar, restaurant and small swimming pool. So great if you are with your partner or just wish a quiet break reading by the small pool in the daytime and enjoying the fine food in the evening. Although near a busy road, the hotel is surprisingly quiet. Within walking distance are a couple of good Portuguese restaurants, and getting the sights etc is not a problem. Only 22 rooms, it is a small place, but it is set in an historic building with great character."

"I think this is the best hotel to stay in Macau. Excellent rooms and best fares (comparing to other expensive hotel in town). The rooms were always clean and the hotel location was quiet. Also tried the restaurant there and was good also. In poor words I would recommend this hotel to any friends and relatives going to Macau. And I would even stay there if I go back. The hotel is also good if you are a couple ;-)."
