"room lighting should be improved. restaurants offering buffets : prices were not quite reasonable. We had to hurry to the airport for the 7am flight but as we requested for early breakfast (included in our room rate), receptionist replied the hotel did not provide it. I think the hotel should make some improvement on that."

"We liked the hotel because of its location, close to Johor Bahru airport, its facilities and service. It has a 54-hole golf course, which is a major plus, and it met all of our requirements for a short stay. It could benefit from a makeover however, requiring re-decoration and improvements to the paintwork."

"Great hotel unless something goes wrong. Staff were very slow to react and get the problem fixed quickly so we could go to bed. Our stay was going well until after dinner. I bathed our 1yr old and when I unplugged the bath, the water came out through two other drains in the bathroom. One was in the shower but other drain was in the toilet. As a result, bits of sewerage came up drain as well as a terrible stench. We allowed 10 minutes to see if it went away as we didn't want to move rooms if we could help it. Had to call Reception as the smell became unbearable. They sent maintenance who clearly had no idea what the problem was and set about mopping up the floor. Once we demonstrated what happened, they went away and left us sitting there. We rang Reception who were extremely reluctant to give us another room. When we did eventually get a new room, it was missing items including a kettle, the minibar, toiletries, washers, etc. It felt like we were being punished for moving rooms! By this time it was so late and our baby (and us) needed sleep so we decided not to bother about asking for anything to be fixed up. On the positive side, we ate at the restaurant that night and the service and food was very good."

"We had a good time. Golf terrace at the adjacent golf and country club was a nice place to have dinner overlooking the golf course and watching sunset. Food also slightly cheaper than at hotel. Food was good. Will probably come again soon. "

"Nice place to stay, but the service need to improve. A lot of confusion occurs and the staffs had difficulties in understanding simple instruction. Requesting for a extra bed and pillow can take up to 6 hours! Questioning whether is there any buffet dinner can take forever and can still afford to give me wrong information. "

"Room was big & clean but the parquet floorings have rundown(cracks everywhere). The amenities were torn down, especially the bowling alley. Overall experienced stay was ok. Good for those who want to unwind for a day or two from the busy city. "

"Well decorated lobby. The hotel is dotted with lots of palm trees. However, the airconditioner in the room did not work initially but was fixed soom. Very close to Senai airport which is convenient."

"We have been to Sofitel a number of times and my children love the place and the pool - a pity they did not on the fountain in the pool until much later (initially i thought it was spoilt). It was a pity that the hotel could not provide us adjoining rooms which cause us a little inconvenient as we have 3 little children (1-5 yrs) to take care of. This time we are given the rooms on the ground floor and it is very sandy /dusty unlike the rooms we used to have in previous visit. Overall we are still quite happy with the stay - and we will definitely come again. "

"The in-house channel had the GM saying they want to give the guests the 'Wow' factor to keep them coming back. Indeed I was 'wow'-ed..........by the atrocity that this place actually calls itself a 5* resort. The staff service standard was pathetic even by Malaysian standards. The waiters will ignore you during breakfast (they rather do non-essential things like rearranging table mats) and you have to get their attention just for a cup of coffee to be served, even then it came without suger or milk. If you come to breakfast around 10am, the egg station guy will simply tell you "no more", even though it's still within the official breakfast hours and they have the pan and egg right in front of them. The coffeehouse was infested with flies during the day and mosquitoes during the night. The breakfast was very unappealing, especially with flies resting themselves on most of the food items. I even saw birds eating away the ingredients at the unattended egg station (imagine the next guest's omelette). The resort staff seem more content to bunch around and joke loudly rather than helping a guest standing in the vacinity obviously needing some form of help. When you require transport to the resort, you have to wait 30mins for a minivan whereas walking there will simply take you 10mins. It is such a pity cos the resort facilities were excellent and obviously were developed with a "5*" objective in mind. at the end of the day, 5* amenities can lose 4* simply because the service sicks, big time."
