"We stayed at the Federal Hotel for 4 nights. When we booked, we thought we were booking the Deluxe Room which stated sleeps 4. However when we arrived we were told we had to pay for an extra bed. An expence we had not anticipated. We also requested a non smoking room, however we were put onto a smoking floor. The entire floor was filled with smoke as soon as you left the lift. After having a dreadful nights sleep we requested to change rooms and was put onto a non smoking floor later that day. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a good location and close to lots of shopping and only a short walk to China Town. The buffet breakfast was great. Our room had the hardest bed I have ever (tried) to sleep in!! The hotel needs some desperate updating.
I think there are a lot of other nicer hotels in the area and better value for money. We would probably not stay there again."

"Although there is complimentary car parking provided by the hotel, guest are required to walk some distance from LowYat Plaza to the hotel and back upon check out. The traffic was chaotic and hence pose a road safety hazard to guests with luggages/infants.
Front desk staff was helpful and understanding to allocate two rooms side by side, which may be difficult during holiday seasons. "

"Never Again..
We booked 2 nigths at this hotel, the first day the reception woman gave us a room very old and dirty without window. We asked her to change the room the second day and we moved the an another old and dirty room with outside view but a smaller double bed and a rundown airconditioning.
The third day we checked out and was very happy to live this hotel.
This hotel was a 3 stars in 1980 but today the fournitures are 30 years old and need a big renovation."

"It is excellent hotel located near to the shopping malls, grocery, pharmacy, and many activities in Bhuket Pentang (Arab Street). I don't have ocean of papers to write more about this wonderful hotel. Whenever I visit Malaysia, I will be Federal.
Their management & staff are so friendly, and you will feel like you are home.

Comments: Our stay at the Federal in KL was most enjoyable. The hotel is in an excellent location in the Golden Triangle and convenient for shopping, restaurants, Chinatown and Main Bus Station. Rooms are large with all the usual facilities. Buffet breakfast is very comprehensive but can be very busy at peak times. Hotel also always seems to be very busy. Good facilities and great view of Petronas Towers from top floor revolving restaurant, but restaurant could do with an upgrade. Overall a very good value place to stay if you want to be situated in the heart of KL but hardly suitable for romantic couples. Many guests seem to be on short stop-overs between Europe and Australia and so there are many families staying at this hotel rather than business people.Would recommend the Federal though for a stay of a few days.
