"This hotel lacks the charm of a small resort, despite its great location. A bit far from the city centre/excursions (e.g. orang utans). But it has apparently been renovated recently, it is quiet, and nice for the beach and the pool. We played tennis too. The food is average, and there is a lack of alternative... Expect to "overpay" for everything since you have no other choice - but still not a robbery. The price of the room itself is quite expensive. Limited number of TV channels. Also, we met an English couple staying at the other resort at Damai, and apparently it is not really nice."

" The airconditioning was pretty bad, we were perspiring in the room. The breakfast spread and service standards in the restaurant was lousy. I doubt i will want to visit the resort again."

"We had a great time even though we spent only 2 days and a night at Damai Puri. The kids enjoyed themselves at the kids pool. The beach was entertaining with continuous waves. The service was quick. Staff were very polite and conversed well in English. The only problem we had was the buffet dinner. We went around 7pm and food was finishing and replacement was a bit slow. Not much variety yet expensive. We didn't have much time to explore the resort's other facilities. Overall, it was a nice experience for my family and myself."

"This hotel is a joke. It's an overpriced YMCA that just happened to be located on the most beautiful place on earth. Here's a list of things we encountered in 4 days. - Check-in took more than 30 minutes and included one of our credit cards being blocked, cause the poor English speaking staff who man the desk after 5pm had no idea what they were doing and kept on pushing in 'my' pincode utnil it blocked. The next day during normal hours when the qualified staff works there was no problem and it was fixed in 2minutes. - the open corridor with seaview is great; the problem is when it rains the tiles get slippery and my son fell twice. - In the room the safe and 1 light didn't work - there is no bath and no way to close off the shower, so everything gets wet, resulting in.. yes my son falling on his head again. - The gym is quite nice, but only open a few hours a day. If you want they can open it for you though. The fact that the aircons haven't been on for a while then, at least makes sure you have a decent sweat during work out. - During the week (during low season) the kids pool wasn't open. - When they did open it and we walked from the pool to the beach on the wooden path between those, I got a splinter in my foot and my soon got two. - the towel-system is annoying and makes you feel like you're a criminal about to steal their towels. the place where you have to bring back the towels at the kids-pool is conveniently placed at the other side of the pool, which is always a nice ending of the day walking with a kranky crying child to the two towel-policemen who didn't think it would have been nice to maybe meet me halfway. - The breakfast buffet is way too limited, the lunch and dinner were absolutely great though, nothing but compliments for the chef. And then the weekend comes and all becomes clear..... The hotel gets invaded by local families, who probably pay a different -more realistic- price and the magnificent (other) pool turns into a water-volleyball playground for chubby loud teenagers. This all is perfectly acceptable if you go with your whole footballteam to a $30 a night all-inclusive hotel in Turkey or so, but not for a hotel that pretends to be a 4star resort and spa (1 room for footmassage) Coclusion: train staff, spend a few bucks on maintanance or promote the hotel for what it really is: a nice getaway for local families who want to have an awesome view in a decent 2star hotel.
