| "Although still called Federal Villa the running of it has been taken over by the adjoining Holiday Villa. Have nothing but praise for how it is run, the only real drawbacks I could see was that the chalets of Federal Villa were a little way from the main Holiday Villa hotel so when it rained you had to sometimes wade through water to get to your chalet. Another thing was that it was quite a way from the various attractions of Langkawi but there were a plentiful supply of taxis parked in the Holiday Villa grounds and with a bit of haggling you could get one for the whole day at a very reasonable rate. Found the staff to be naturally very friendly, willing also to do anything to make your stay there that much more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend staying there to anyone." |

| "I was very disappointed with this hotel. Luckily, I only stayed there one night. The service was terrible, the porter who was meant to show me to the room just pointed to a building about 150m away and said "up there, third floor, no elevator". So I had to carry my luggage up 6 flights of stairs in the middle of the night! The room was large but the bathroom was revolting, mouldy and it smelt terrible.
Breakfast was awful, mostly cold and they have this terrible beef bacon and chicken sausages which are virtually inedible. There is also a terrible smell of sewers all about the hotel, due to the open sewer drains around the place. I would definitely recommend spending more money and staying somewhere nicer, up the top of the island of Langkawi. The beaches are nicer and there are some beautiful resorts there which cost a bit more, but it is worth it." |

| "The best thing about this hotel is the room size (big room) and the location (nice beach), the worst thing about this hotel is the prices of other services (not the room itself) a beer at their beech bar costs RM9, when you can get it at RM4 at any good restaurant(or RM 2 at any Duty free outlet all over the place). Basically stay here for the room but dont use any other service - car rental (is half) or Bfast (is one third) in outlest just across the road.
My tip : Rent a car right from the airport (roads are good with hardly any traffic) and the distance to main eating/shopping area is just a 5 min ride away." |

| "It all depends on what you like. This place is a budget option for Holiday Villa, and shares all the facilities. The beach where the villa is at is very nice and quiet. It's also in a quiet part of town, so there are very few good restaurant options nearby. It's 5RM taxi ride to Cenang, which isn't bad.
The room is old and smelled damp. The bathroom only has shower, and the water leaks out through the door. So after you shower, the floor is like a river. We had to put towels along the inner edges to remedy it. We thought it's too much money for what you get, especially it is still rainy season." |

| "The hotel was lovely the only problem we had with the room was the bathroom as the shower was broken but it did not spoil the experiance. The hotel is located on a lovely beach with lots of activities going on and taxi's are very cheap to all the other attractions." |

| "Although the room size was satisfactory the bathroom could have done with an overhall. The shower leaked all over the floor and the towels smelt a little.
The front door had cracks in the wood so you could see the light through and it was sealed at the bottom with masking tape.
The balcony you would not sit out on as it was too small and the chairs/table dirty. Also too many insects.
I did not complain as decided to move to another hotel nearer the other beach Cenang.
I don't know what the rooms would be like in the main part of the hotel complex as the Federal Villa is part of the Holiday Villa." |

| "I and my brother stayed at Federal Villa in last March. It was such a great stay while we were in Langkawi. Federal Villa is a part of Holiday Villa, so we could use all facilities including very nice swimming pool.Location was even better, very close to beach and nice walking distance to Bars and restaurant. If you ever would like to go to Langkawi,I highly recommend you this Federal and Holiday Villa!!!

| "This is generally a very nice hotel in a superb location. It has good facilities and well kept, colourful gardens surrounding the different hotel areas.
Easy access to a beautiful large beach, with views to other islands.
Dissapointed that the sea wasn't clear water. Not dirty, but the sand is fine and contains silt with makes the water cloudy. They need more sun beds (get up early to grab one!) And more shady area, as the only shade is under the trees - so although the beach is large people crowd under the trees.
We had a great boat trip day out with Dynamite cruises. Sailed to other islands, which do have clear water. We fed Sea Eagles, and wild monkeys on the beach of one island.
The room is good, but needs some maintenance, and a good clean! The bathroom is rather grubby in the corners.
Service: Some of the towels we got really smelt awful!
A few of the staff (2 or 3) were lovely, but I'm afraid to say that we found most of them unfriendly, unsmiling, particularly those working at the restaurant. Although my fiancee and I were well groomed, well dressed, friendly and polite to the staff, their reaction to us was generally rather snooty! They never smiled or greeted us.
A nice touch: I had to write my date of birth on the card I filled-in on arrival. As it happened I had my birthday while staying there. They put a note under my door the day before saying happy birthday and saying I could collect a free birthday cake from the restaurant. What spoiled this (again) was the staff! When I asked for my cake (which was very good!) the waitress just flatly asked for my room number to check I was telling the truth although I had the letter with me. She didn't crack her face at all, not the slightest smile, she could have said 'happy birthday' but didn't even say hello. When we finished our meal a waiter asked us again about the cake, and his reaction was the same! Not a smile, no comment about birthday etc., just brought over the cake and walked off.
Maybe coming from Thailand we were used to hotel staff being friendsly, helpful and smiling. Don't expect this at Holiday / Federal Villa!
Overall: A nice hotel, great location, spoilt by unfriendly staff, smelly towels and poor room maintenance. " |

| "That was a fantastic holiday! I booked Federal Villa, but I lived next to swimming pool in Holiday villa. Service, facilities, room etc., everything's good. And thanks to the masseur on beach for providing so good service:) I'll go Langkawi again, and I will choose holiday villa again!" |

| "Condition of room was poor and lacking routine maintenance. Daily service not up to standard. Langkawi is a great place for a restful holiday with cheap food, beer and car rental" |
