We were highly disappointed with the Sheraton. When we arrived, the mini bar door was broken and just sitting on the floor. The room was alot older than we expected. You need to get a bus shuttle to get to the lobby but it was very slow therefore we walked instead. Wouldn't like to know what it was like during peak season! The gym had 3 running machines and that was it. They advertised it to have so much more. The pool wasn't very appealing and some staff were quite rude. Overall, highly disappointed and would not recommend this place to anyone.

| "On the plus side, service was excellent.
On the down side, the place generally looks dated.
The room we stayed in probably needs a refresh. Bathroom needs fixing eg. taps in the shower could not be set properly - the hot/cold water setting keeps changing.

| "Oversized bathtub was great, but the shower cubicle, while large, was poorly maintained. The door could not shut and the door and door frame were made of stainless steel, making me feel like I was back in my university dormitory.
The room smelled musty (and stayed smelling musty for the first day or so) when we first checked in, because of all the wood in the room, the humid weather, and the fact that the air-conditioning had not been turned on. The wood panelling is a nice idea and looks great in pictures but doesn't do well in this climate; when you are in the room all the wood looks really old and worn.
The location is less than ideal because food in the hotel is very expensive; we ended up spending a lot of money taking taxis to Pantai Cenang, where there were many more food options.
The beach was private but small, and the view marred by some built up headlands opposite.
The service was generally very good, except for one time on the last day of our stay, just before checkout: our keys had been deactivated and, despite calling for a shuttle before leaving the room, we were left stranded outside our room for more than 20 minutes before a shuttle arrived.
The buffet breakfast was great though; the restaurant it was served in was really nice and there was a good variety of high quality food.
If I do go back to Langkawi I would stay at a hotel in Pantai Cenang: the beach isn't private but much nicer and wider, and while it's much more laid back than, say, Patong beach in Phuket, there are plenty of affordable food options.

| "Not as good as we thought, the location is remote and there are no restaurants or bars around except at the resort but be prepared to have overpriced average food and the kids shouting around. Although bungalows were fine, considering the price we paid (90 pounds/ night) we don't think that resort was good value. Couples and romantics, please avoid, the Sheraton is the typical resort for families spending the most of their vacation at the resort!" |

| "A bit surprised to see that this hotel was under the Sheraton group as it was extremly run down, although half the rooms have been renovated apprently, the question should be asked what year it was renovated. Although a very nice lobby most the grounds are drab and run down, staff try hard however maybe need more management to oversee and help raise the standards of basic tasks like filling a coffee cup or water glass and approaching guests instead of standing around.
Porters very efficient. Pobably good for a family with small children on a budget." |
