"The receptionist staff is not friendly at all. their service is very poor, actually we intend to stay until 2 nov, but i dont like their service, the counter girl always pull a long face. Feel not happy to stay there for long. but the swimming pool is nice , we enjoy only the pool. so we check out and went to check in G Hotel at gurney drive, althought is a 4 star, their service is very very very good. Excellent!!! we stay there for 3 night. We reali very enjoy to stay there. The double room is much more bigger than equatorial hotel. Next time, i will choose to stay there again"

"This Hotel was incredible value for money. Only $186 including breakfast for 2 nights. A nice big room on the top floor with a nice view of Penang. Very nice Buffet style breakfast which was included in the price. Nice comfy bed. Even a balcony so you could step outside and get a nice view. The shower took a little bit of getting use to but nothing major. Very good service Will definitly be staying at this hotel again. "

"The aircon in the room was broken (although to be fair when we contacted the reception, someone came in to partially fix it promptly), and the bath tub water stop was not working either (they should have inspected the room routinely) given the price they charge and the 5* rating they have. I was there last year and it looks like nothing has been updated since then, except that internet access (via a cable) cost RM10 for 24 hours last year but this year that options had been withdrawn and replaced with a WLAN service at RM50 for 24 hours! (There was no multiple day option either - e.g. RM30 for 12 hours to be used within 5 days). Staff were not unfriendly but neither do they smile a lot or make me feel that they were particularly enthusiastic. As I have been at Sangrila Bangkok before, I thinkt he quality of staff service is about 50% of that of Shangrila. I am gonna try Hotel Vistana (next door) next time..."

"I stayed at Executive room there to conduct IPC course or training as the hotel equipped with suitable small room to bigger size room at Business centre. Business centre's secretary is very helpful and well-manner. one weakness of the meeting room or in-room is there is no extra power outlet point if my trainee required to power up their notebook and also for my screen projector as the room did not equip with that and if I am here for holiday to charge up my video cam, digital cam and handphone batteries etc. The hotel in-room got to pay for internet access where I do not need to pay when I stayed at Shanghai hotel (Executive room) followed by staying at Equatorial. Breakfast is included and dinner next to the pool is not bad and price is just reasonable. The bathroom's shampoo should be given extra bottle since it is insufficient for morning and night bath. The hotel I have stayed usually placed a 3 standard bottle (Blue, Yellow & Red)for use. Air-condition is adjustable which is a plus compared to many hotel using centralised air-con. Overall, it is recommendaed to stay for business, family holiday or couples. "

"A lovely hotel and reasonably priced given it's proximity to the airport. Beautiful swimming pool and great buffet breakfast. Very peaceful and a wonderful place to relax before ongoing flights. Highly recommended."

"I've stayed here for business a few times now, because of it's proximity to the airport, and industrial areas. I find the rooms and facilities to be adequate, the recreational facilities are great, and the buffet dinner and breakfast is usually good value. My only critiscm is general staff friendliness and helpfulness. I always get the feeling that any request I may have is of great inconvenience to staff, for example asking a bellboy to come to the room to help with luggage, or at the restaurant asking for a la carte instead of buffet. The front desk are great, but it doesn't seem to extend much further. Oh and the local taxi from the hotel ripped me off by not using the meter, and justified it by saying he had to pay the hotel Bell Boy RM3.50 to be allowed to pick up hotel guests. That should probably be looked into. So make sure the meter is on when you get into a cab at this hotel."

"We really enjoyed our stay at the Equatorial Hotel in Penang. This Hotel is really a very nice place to stay, the view from this hotel is also beautiful. The people working over there are very nice and very polite too. The breakfast was also very nice (a big choice of different kinds of food). If I would come back to Penang once, I wouldn't hesitate to go in this hotel again."

"The service we received was first class. The room was very clean and plenty of space. The staff were extremely friendly, the resturant was of high standard even at 5.00am they prepared fresh food throughout the time we stayed. I would definately recommend this hotel as a relaxing, refreshing stay as part of a stop over for long flights."
