"too far from the night bazar"

"The hotel is ok but the location is very bad. Far away from everything. The rooms are big and good. Only the bathroom is not what you might expect from a 4 star hotel. The staff is friendly but not very efficient. Had to ask 3 times for new batteries in the remote control. The reception is organized very bad. In the hotel there is not enough staff. The pool and specialy the beach near the hotel are not very nice. The price for a can off beer was a redicules 17 ringit. The hotel attracts mainly Arabs. I would not stay in this hotel again in the future mainly because of the bad location and the many Arabs."

"We enjoyed our stay and the staff were more than helpful. Only critisism I would have is when we booked we were given a price which matched what was displayed on the site. We did however receive a response to advise that due to being very booked/busy we would be required to pay more. It was very disappointing to find whilst we stayed at the Hydro Majestic that there was a conference and the hotel was very busy, but this was for the Saturday night only. All other times I would guess-timate that there would have been 20 other people besides my partner & I, therefore do feel it was justified that we were requested to pay extra."

"Location of the hotel is perfect for travellers, who do not want to be disturbed by night markets, bars and restaurants or wild night life. Anyway those facilities are very easy and cheap to reach in 5 min by taxi (RM 10) or local bus (RM 2), which operates until late. Staff in the hotel is friendly and is willing to do their best to serve you and fullfill your demands. Specially reception is very helpfull. There is a tour-operator-desk helping to plan your daily adventures and trips. At the beach there is a wondefull pittoresc little restaurant The Miami Cafe run by an Indian family. Food is good and cheap. Beach is not the best possible, but will do. Poolside is wide and open, sun shines there day round. Children has been taken into consideration and they have their own areas. Poolside restaurant services could be better, but you'll get a waiter if you are patient enough. Big minus for the hotel is the lack of shop or mini-market. Only place you can buy drinks are restaurants, otherwise you have to drive to Batu Feringhi. Breakfast has wide range of products and it is delicious. Buffet is well maintained and staff is helpfull. "Very disappointed. Beach was....non-existent. Hotel was far from Batu Ferringhi and although told by several members of staff that I could walk there in 20 mins....not possible cos there was no footpath on a main road. Aircon was stuck on high so only alternative was off. First morn woke up covered in ants. Had to request regularly for room to be cleaned. Obviously understaffed. Not enough sunbeds so had to 'claim' a bed by 8am to guarantee one wasn't lying on concrete. Facilities didn't cater well enough for numbers. Breakfast was a zoo and food was rather cheap. Taxis over-charged and not one metre in use on the whole island. Tried to be positive about my holiday but it was difficult....but restaurant staff surprisingy friendly and helpful given the zoo they worked in!!! Not recommended."

"The hotel staff is very cooperative. Reaching the George Town (Komtar), they provide the free shuttle service but have to book it in advance. The hotel is nearer to Batu Ferringi which is an advantage. The breakfast is good with a lot to choose from. Overall a good stay."

"My family and I have been to this hotel before, it's was called Ferrangi Beach Hotel, very nice and cool with lots of German tourists. Now it has been taken over by another group, lots of paintings has to be done on the interiors. Fridge in the hotel rooms need to be topped up (there's nothing inside), room's safe not functioning. Also the hotel bus, shuttering tourists from hotel to town and vice versa - person in-charge for the booking should be more accomodating. I asked him if the bus goes to town can he dropped me, along the way, at Metrojaya. He replied "No, it's not our practice. You get off at Gurney Plaza and find your way there". What rubbish ! I did not ask him to drive me to another place out of the way ! Other than that it's good for families to take a break cos it's near town. Richard Chua "

"I was staying at the hotel, but now it will be remodeld and you really could feel it. The best part was the swimming pool area which was finished two weeks to late. Breakfast and food is not from high quality. Coffee in the morning should be freshly brewed and not just thrown in some coffee bags. Should be more oriented to the west and not only asian style. The beach below the hotel is privat, they should arrange something with the owners and have deck chairs and umbrellas there. The stairs on the street side are not clean. The staff was more or less friendly. Shuttles to town and beach should be on earlier and later times also the pick ups. Once the hotel is restored it might be better, but I was not satiesfied with my holidays."

"This was my third stay since September 2005. It was good to see the friendly and helpful staff again. One thing I found very inconvenient was the closed bridge over the road, as it is quite dangerous to cross this road on foot. Another thing I noticed was that there is no longer a bargain pack of soft drinks from Room Service, and although the room was comfortable, there was am electrical plug without a cover behind the bedside table. This was very quickly fixed when reported to reception, and my stay was pleasurable. The pool facilities were excellent as usual, but Mr Sun could benefit from having his massage space restored to its previous size, as this time it was halved. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for friendliness, and the food is beautifully prepared. (A pity frozen fries have reached Malaysia though!) A Comfortable Stay. Maurice Houghton UK"

"Red ants on bed so we had to change rooms. Only partial sea view, not as described. Poor location. However, excellent breakfast, friendly staff, limited free bus and only 10 ringit in a taxi to the centre. Overall good value for money. I would stay again if I was on a budget. "
