| "We enjoyed our stay at Lone Pine for the reasons stated below
1) Very good location - easy to move around and public buses easily assessible from hotel location.
2) Love the peace and serenity the big field had to offer- not overcrowded too- was close enough to the beach and love the sea view.
3) Had alot of activities at the beach areas and had a huge variety of food and entertainment.
Would look forward to staying there again.Would like to be informed when the hotel will re-open again.

| "I have the fortune of being a very well travelled person. I am adapatable to 5 star hotels or very low budget hostels... it will be depending the place and of course the budget.
However I have to say that this has been the worst hotel I have ever stayed in Asia (and I have been in dodgy ones in the middle of nowhere in Vietnam!!!).
The problem with this one is the expectation.. the website is fabulous compared to what it offers. The facilities, rooms, reception, restaurant, all is as old, nothing comparabe to what they show in the gallery! And considering that the price is not very very low... I honestly can confirm that I pay 300% more of what it values. My room was damp, cracking furniture, broken doors. The pool had never been cleaned at least in the last year, the garden area is full of big black ants that get on you while suntanning and even bite.
Plus the service was horrible! the women at the reception desk were rude and when they didn't want to attend our questions, they pretended not to understand English.
The location of the hotel is good... next to teh Shangri La... I went in there to see the rates... just 50% more of what I paid... I wanted to collapsed.. I expected a smaller, cozy, nicer hotel as per what I saw in the website and what I paid for it..
Thanks for asking my opinion.. I wish it is is useful for the travellers...

| "Verry friendly staff, location is verry good, when you walk out of the hotel you walk straight up the the nightmarket.Big room with tv and some moviechannels in English language.Good swimming pool and enough chairs ans space to relax in the sun or shadow.
Nearby are good halkerstalls, where you can have a verry good meal.
We booked a standard room, was verry nice with your own little garden, there is no noise from doors or any thing else so we had a quiet good night sleep.
We recommed this hotel iff you are planning to go to Penang.

| "Older fashioned hotel in terms of furnishing and building design, but is very charming and low-rise.Right next to beach with lovely breakfast area immediately behind the beach.
Contact staff are good English speakers.Very relaxing and prompt service for any maintenance problems.eg fixing air-conditioner in my room.
Excellent range of shops, restaurants just outside the front entrance, with night market and taxi rank just outside plus Rapid bus stop.
Overall, very good for families with older children as swimming pool is unfenced and for couples to have a relaxing weekend." |

| "Grounds were nice, rooms were so-so, lots of rusty spots or maybe that's the 'look'? Expected more since E&O runs this place. Service was patchy - some staff seemed demotivated to be there and not interested in going beyond basic service. We realised it was better for us to arrange our own tours than at the reception as some of the staff there did not seem to know the island beyond Batu Ferringhi! Even if they are not local Penangites, they should at least be educated on e.g. where the good food is or how to get to Balik Pulau, etc as these are surely attractions of Penang. Sadly, our Lonely Planet guidebook was much more informative. Out of curiosity, we went to E&O in Georgetown for lunch and the environment and service there were great and many, many worlds apart from Lone Pine's." |

| "Location is perfect! Prices in the hotel are outrageous! One pot of tea 7 Euro!!!! Staff is friendly but not honest! Check out day had to shower in the garden, no facilities at all for late check out. Front desk told me we could stay in the room till 1330hrs. At 1215hrs they told me I had to leave the room in 15minutes because the new guests arrived. " |
