Good location. only 5 minutes walk to...
Good location. only 5 minutes walk to the shopping streets. need to improve the service. i was traveling with my families and we have heavy luggage as we were coming from Tasmania. When we reach at the hotel, there was no porter service to help us to carry our luggage to the room. The staff were friendly, however only i staff was on duty at the reception at that time. Thus, i have to wait almost 1/2 hr to be attended to.
Other that, its really a good hotel :)

We stayed in the 2 bedroom unit. The room was great and its clean. The service at the reception was reasonable. The area is convieniently located near Queen Victoria Market (2mins walk) and Chinatown (5 mins).

Firstly the location of the hotel is great, it is just about 5-10 mins walk to the Victoria Hotel. It is about 15-20 mins walk to the center of the city and there are quite a number of eateries around the hotel vicinity which varies from fast food to coffee cafes as well as value-for-money restaurants.
As we are staying in the 2-room apartment, it offers a queen size bed and two single beds which is great for families. There is a microwave in the small kitchenette as well and cutlery are available too. There is a supermarket (quite limited variety) which is good to stock up on snacks or simple microwave meals.
I must mention about the bathroom too cos the toilet and bathtub are separated. There are also two sinks so we can powder up outside while someone is in the bathroom unlike most hotels.
There are also coin-operated washing machines & dryers located at of the accommodation floors. which are great and it takes just about an hour to have your clothes washed and dried. Very convenient for travellers who like to travel light.
A great place for families and travellers who do not need to enjoy all the fancy facilities offered by 4-5 stars hotels.

Clean, cheap and nice hotel. However, do not expect any survice from them. However, we booked shuttle to airport, but we can not see any bus passed 15mins from the arranged time. We finally took taxi to airport.

Quite new & clean, altho this hotel...
Quite new & clean, altho this hotel is not in the very centre of the city. Definitely good value for money, as one can still get around town easily if you familiarised yourself w/ the public transport system. Amenities are limited but not missed; the Ibis is best suited for those who want to explore Melbourne in comfort but reasonable price. I found the rates via AsiaRooms better than the hotel's rack prices. I've stayed here 2x already in 4months.

Hotel Ibis Melbourne is conveniently located on the edge of the Melbourne city and is a short 3 minute walk to the very colourful Queen Victoria Market. It is also a 5 min walk South to the Melbourne city and all its wonderful shops.
The hotel itself is a 3-star, no frills hotel. Breakfast is not included, which is all the better as it can be found cheaply in nearby eateries. The room is sufficiently large, does not have a view but does have a decent sized LCD TV. You have to pay for certain services, such as using the safe to store valuables. Porter service is not available. However, customer service is good, with the reception staff quick and friendly to answer all and any questions. Tours are easy to book and most, if not all tour buses, will pick up from the hotel. Taxis from the airport to the hotel cost ~AUD$45.
After scouring through the entire internet, I found that Asiarooms gave the best price and immediate reservation, which was fantastic. This is probably my 3rd or more time using Asiarooms, so thumbs up! Proud that it is a great, useful Singaporean company...

I book the hotel as I need to sent my son to the Melbourne U to start his first year there, the location is good, everything was fine except that they charge every thing from using the internet to the mini safe box in the room, the checking-in receptionist was very helpful but unfortunately the check-out receptionist was not, I did not know the checkout time is 11am, my flight was at 5pm and I book the Jetbus at 2pm to pick me from the hotel, I rememember requesting for late checkout but the receptionist say I did not mention that and due to the delay as I was at the checkout counter at 1.30pm, she says that I have to pay for the panalty for late checkout as the cleaning staff has only 30mins to clean up the room, I ask her is it possible for her to waive it since I have request for the extention but someone may not have enter into the log and no one mention to me that the check out time is 11am, she say no, and I have to pay $20 panalty, I have actually filled in the membership to the hotel chain, so I ask her will she consider to waive this time since I will most likely to come visiting Melboune very often and the hotel is quite convenience for me to stay and I will be like to enrol as the club member, she was not friendly and insist that no way she will waive this charge, I told if she does not value me as a customer, go ahead to charge it and I tore the membership form infront of her, the $20 panalty is not going to help the hotel on the bottom line but it make a unhappy customer who will likely to start in the hotel in future if the service is better.
