This hotel is fabulous! As seasoned travellers, my husband and I have high expectations and the Sofitel fulfilled them all. As soon as we got to the airport a hotel representative was there to supply us with water and cool wipes...good start! We were then driven to hotel where check in went very smoothly and we were shown our room even though it was only 8.30am (thought earliest check in would be 12noon) All public areas were spotlessly clean and our room was to the standard a 5 star should be (stayed in many that would not have achieved 2 star from us) Breakfast was good and staff very attentive. Local dancing was on in the evening, so you could stay in hotel if you wanted. Otherwise the centre of Siem Reap is only 10 mins tuk-tuk ride away and the temples even closer. All in all a very pleasant experience with the added touch of a cake being presented to my huband for his birthday.

The Sofitel was an excellent hotel. The rooms were very clean, well-adorned, and well-maintained. We had heard the hotel was a little sterile, but this turned out not to be the case at all. The facilities and staff were top notch.Food at F&B outlets were very good...especially pastries at breakfast time! I had a wonderful experience in Siem Reap.

Stayed there 2 weeks ago and had a fantastic time. Conveniently located - one can visit the temples in the morning and come back to the hotel for a nice lunch by the wonderful pool - I think the biggest in Cambodia.
Atmosphere is serene, service is discreet and efficient, and the rates for food are not that high - of course they are high compared to the rest of Cambodia outside most hotels, but compared to international hotels, they are still OK ( a Club sandwich for US$10 if i remember correctly).
The breakfast is really great, one of the nicest i've seen in hotels so far. great variety of food.
Overall, a great experience , I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to enjoy a few days in Angkor.

I have just returned from the far east where I spent three glorious days at the Sofitel Royal Angkor hotel. I found the hotel staff welcoming and accommodating. The hotel has excellent facitities with beautiful gardens and pool. I found the pool and swim up bar most appreciated after a long day walking round the Angkor Wat. I would certainly recommend the hotel to anyone thinking of visiting the area.

Stayed here from 25-11-02 to 30-11-02. Purchased a deluxe room with ABF included. Room was very nice in ammenities and size. ABF was spetacular in variety and taste. Only problem is that it is so humid and hot in Siem Reap that you do not want to eat. The hotel facilities, including the pool area, is an oasis. My wife raves about being able to leave the dust of the temples behind and simply rest in luxury at poolside. The staff is very helpful and attentive. The only drawback to the entire stay is that the hotel [and area] is very expensive [room and services]. So much so that every local we came in contact with presumes that ALL Americans pay $300 US/night for hotels and $60 US + for every meal. Startling, when you consder that the avarage wage for hotel employee there is less than $150 US/month. But when we return to Siem Reap, we will certainly stay here again. A word of caution, everything in Siem Reap is three to four times the price anywhere else in Cambodia.
