Alila Sothea, Siem Reap  

My husband and I stayed at Alila Sothea for 4 days in September 2011. We initially booked this accommodation based on a review we had read in a travel magazine.
Right from the pick up at the airport we found the service at this hotel to be above average. The manger ( an Aussie) was there to greet us when we arrived, along with the executive chef (who was from the USA). These guys, along with the staff (special mention of Jackie, our butler), were attentive, friendly, and keen for us to have to have a good time, and a smooth stay.
The hotel has free transport via tuk tuk into town, and they will also organise a car and driver for you to go to the temple ruins at a very reasonable rate.
The hotel itself is still new, and clean with lovely architecture, and Cambodian features. The pool deck chairs are some of the most comfortable we have ever used. There is a small gym which is new and would suit anyone who is used to exercising who needs a good standard of equipment.
A real highlight for us was when we asked the chef to prepare a cambodian dinner for us. Brandon organised a beautifully presented tasting plate of cambodian mains, along with a desert tasting platter to die for.
The hotel is out of town - as is the majority of available accommodations, but it's not too far via tuk tuk, and once you enter the premises, it's a lovely, peaceful place to come back to.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to have an enjoyable, worry free stay in nice surroundings where the friendly staff will make you feel totally welcome. You really cant go wrong here!
