Excellent to go to Borobudur Temple
If you have a plan to go to Borobudur Temple, you should stay in this hotel. My mom and I were so lucky and happy to see the sunrise in the temple before 6:00 AM. The temple opens at 6:00 AM, but you can get the sunrise package in Manohara Hotel starting 4:30 AM with the discount and no payment to go to the temple when you stay in this hotel.

This hotel with very spacious compound is literally next to the awesome Borobodur temple. It offers free entry to the temple after 6 am and so is good value. I think visitors to the temple not guests of this hotel have to pay US$ 13 per person to enter. Only problem is that the hotel offers a special sunrise entry to the temple at 4am for a fee. The sunrise view is awesome from the temple. But the entrance fee is US$17 per person is quite ridiculous since you only get a torch and enter on your own! Not sure if other hotels offer this sunrise tour for the same price. If so, then the value from being granted free access to the temple after 6am for hotel guests would be somewhat negated if one opts for the sunrise entry.
Food is good and reasonably priced. Ambience is very relaxing. Staff are friendly. Overall excellent hotel to stay if the Borobodur temple is the target attraction.

Way overpriced for the quality and service!
Stayed there one night for the sunrise Borobudur tour. Arrived late afternoon after an all night trip from Vietnam - only thing we wanted was a shower....No water! There wasn't even a drizzle! After going to reception, saw about 6 others coming up about the same thing. They eventually moved us to another room. Next morning - 4am wake up call...again no water! They were very slow to respond.
In a nutshell - comfortable beds, great location and nice decor. Bathrooms are VERY tired, lucky if you get water, even hot! Wi Fi is extremely undependable and only available at Reception - after 10pm they seem to turn it off. Food is mediocre at best.

The sunrise is spectacular and wonderful not to deal with packs of school children running around and constantly asking for your picture.

Good location, within Borobudur compound hence very accessible for mulitple visits or rest between visits. Good for relaxing visit. Highly recommend sunrise view.

nice place but bathroom is a bit ancient looking. Not many services available so it may get a bit boring. Very close to Borobudur!! Otherwise, nice stay! :)

Stayed only 1 night. The room and furnishing are old but well maintained and clean. The ground are well maintained too. Borobudur is visible sitting in the restaurant or the coffee shop and the view is beautiful. Room service order took only 10 minutes to arrive. Had the Nasi Goreng and Noodle Soup. Both are good and the portion is adequate. Participated in the 4:30am sunrise visit to Borobudur and it is worth every cent. Breakfast selection is no frill but then all we wanted was an egg station, toasted bread, fresh fruits and hot coffee and they have all that plus some extra.

from the website introduction , the hotel's photo was simple and doesn't tells the best part of the hotel,actually i don't have high expectation , but when we reached ,welcome drink was served, the environment was good , room are satisfied , especially the front desk boy Mr.Mudji gives us a lot of information and it was just 5 min walk to Borobudur , the visual room introduction the story of Borobudur which is F.O.C. hotel guest are compliment with free entrance to Borobudur ,bicycle can be hire at 10,000 rupiah for 1 hour , this was the government owned hotel , it should promote with more professional photo and write up. ( don't take the buffer in the restaurant , it was expensive 100,000 rupiah per pax , only with white rice,fried noodles,fried chicken,grilled fish and mix vegetable )

The only selling point is its location
The location was the only reason I picked it, it remains the same after my stay. After seeing the breakfast on the first morning, I bought my own breakfast for the second morning. There was free access to the internet in the lobby but it wasn't working from the second day onwards. The room was fine but nothing to rave about, still good for being near Borobudur since you can't get any nearer then being in the park itself.

The rooms are quite old and small. It's quite expensive for that kind of quality. But the location is strategic. Its just right in front of borobodur, a gate away. It's worth if you like to spend more time at the temple and want to take a rest in between. We went up 3 times because its so near. It's relaxing to have a meal at the restaurant that is facing the temple. Overall is still good if you are not very picky on the quality of the room.
