The hotel advertises wifi, but only with great difficulty. The receptionist said you could get access to wifi free in the lobby area - you couldn't - I didn't manage to get on it during our four day stay. So had to purchase hourly internet coupons to use in my room - on the three occasions I used it, it only worked once and even then I had to get a member of staff come to my room to get me connected. Frustrating and disappointing, but other than that the hotel was lovely.

Short vacation stay
Arrived at Penang International Airport at 9.30 am, 7 Mar 12. Booked a cab at counter there. Taxi fare to hotel was rather expensive at 69 ringgit. Checked in at hotel only to find that room given was occupied. Had to change to another vacant room. Housekeeping was excellent. Room was cleaned and towels changed daily. Breakfast was satisfactory with lots of variety of fare. The public bus service 101 to town operating by the main road is air condition, efficient and found to have high frequent schedule. Do not have to wait long for a bus, at most under 10 minutes. Not able to book taxi at hotel to airport. Had to book limousine service costing about 60 ringgit rather expensive.
In future, will book hotel at Georgetown rather than at Batu Ferringhi for affordable commuting costs and taxi availability.

Value for money
We stayed for 4days at hydro hotel in a deluxe room. The room was fine and spacious. Nothing fancy though. Location is ok as its in between batu ferringhi and the city. The hotel provides free shuttle service to the beach/night market and city which is good. Otherwise you could also take the public bus which comes every 15mins right in front of the hotel. Good value for money if you are not too fussy. Breakfast was normal.

Definitely need a revision on the stars ratings for this hotel
Let's begin with the positive points. We choose this hotel because of its location. It is situated in between Batu Ferringi and Gurney drive. It's just 5 mins drive to Batu Ferringi and 15mins to Gurney. We wanted to avoid staying at Gurney and Batu Ferringi because traffic jams there can be quite bad esp on weekends.

- Room condition is way below expectations for a 4 stars hotel
- Toilet tiles, bowl and bath tub is extremely dirty
- Thermal-sat for aircon is not working
- Air con fan is extremely noisy at low speed
- Housekeeping is very slow and needs constant reminders to make up the room
- Stingy on extra towels (There are 3 of us and we need to remind them to give us another towel everyday without failed)
- Breakfast is average. Noticed that there are only 2 dishes that were changed daily.
- Carpark pillars and ramp is very narrow

Hydro hits the mark
My husband and I stayed 8 nights and enjoyed every minute. Friends had stayed here and complained it was too far out of Batu Ferringhui. We found that this wasn't a problem, the bus outside runs every 15 minutes and nothing happens at Batu during the day so you want to head the other way to Georgetown anyway, so in fact we found it very well positioned. The staff were very helpful and although the room wasn't luxury it was still very nice and for the price we paid, it was excellent and even had an ocean view. I would recommend this hotel for it's value for money. The lobby, dining and relaxing areas were lovely too.

The Executive Room ...is just ..the standard room 1 floor higher up !!!!!!! So don`t waste your Money ....as I did !!!!! For a Tooth brush you will Pay Extra !! and there is NO Room service if you need to get rid of that Moscito !! The Breakfast is definitly below standard !!!!

Good place if looking for basic accommodation
Basically good in terms of facilities available. Moderate grade mattress provide good sleep. A good hotel I would say for the travelers who are looking for a basic accommodation without luxurious feel.
Multilevel parking lot is a little bit disappointed though as the path is considerably narrow for a big vehicle to go through. Open air parking is available but limited.
