You are in the middle
After leaving Kathmandu - here are my thoughts:
1. They pick you up from airport for free (even if they have to wait for hours) - They take 500 Rupees to get you back to the airport.
2. I stayed in a single room. This was a room with a double bed and a fan for about 24 Euros (24 00 Rupees) including breakfast. I think you can get it cheaper. But is it worth to look around for a long time? For Kathmandu you get an acceptable quality - but don't compare it with other countries.
3. Maybe breakfast you can get cheaper outside.
4. The people are polite - the owner is speaking the german language as well and is the owner of another guest house nearby.
5. The guesthouse itself is quiet, but the neighbors aren't. You are in the center. That means: Beside the guesthouse they are constructing a new house (daytime) an about every evening young musicians try to make good music nearby (till 22.00). To get to good restaurants you only have to go a few steps - there are a lot with good indian food.
6. If you want to travel - there is a travel agency.
7. The owner wants cash money (credit card 3 - 4 percent extra charge).

Acme Guest House
We really enjoyed their lovely garden to return to after shopping in busy Thamel. It's close to many good restaurants and the staff is very friendly. There is a Trekking Company on the hotel property and The Manager, Chhabi Siwakoti arranged a wonderful 10-day tour in the Himalaya's upon our arrival. All the details were handled very professionally and our guide was excellent. I can highly recommend Acme as a good starting place to explore Nepal from. Cindy Mason

Acme Pleasure
Excellent service and friendly staff. A very responsible sense of management. Extremely helpful in times of need. Would highly recommend Acme Hotel to any tourists looking for great value for their moneys and cheap accommodation in the heart of Kathmandu. The hotel also acts as a travel agent and organises awesome trekking, hiking, climbing, rafting, canoeing, skiing, sight seeing, etc packages for a fair price. I will be staying at Acme Hotel on my next return to Nepal.

The Acme Guesthouse is a clean cheerful place for those on a budget. It has a great location in Thamel, the staff are friendly and helpful (Nabin can assist with any travel/treking needs - through Himalayan Abode Travels) and the atmosphere is pleasant. I would recommend a stay at this place to anyone.
