A lovely relaxed hotel about 10 minutes...
A lovely relaxed hotel about 10 minutes from the centre of town. Staff are very friendly and the management were excellent helping us with various business dealings when communication in Thai was required. Renting a small moped for the week worked well for our commuting in and out of town (and for about £10 for the week it was not punitive)
Altogether a very good place to stay for a relaxed atmosphere in attractive surroundings. Hope to go back in the not too distant future.

the location of this hotel is a little off the beaten track but if it peace quiet and relaxation you are looking for this hotel is perfect . my advice is buy a good book sit back relax and forget all your troubles ,lanna mantra is perfect for a relaxing break !

Long drive from airport and not too easy to find. Directions on website almost useless. Was disappointed in the quality of the room for a "boutique" hotel, in that it was nothing special. Front desk staff very good.

This charming boutique hotel is beautifully designed and furnished in a fusion of modern & traditional Thai style. We were amazed that FREE wi-fi internet access is available in all rooms, something bigger Hotels could learn from with their outrageous charges for this service!
The owner was very charming and justifiably proud of her interior design skills - and went out of her way to make us feel welcome.
Breakfast was adequate, and plentiful.
The location is a little out of town, but taxis and Tuk Tuks are cheap, only about 150-200 Baht. Journey time 15 mins. Make sure you take the Address in Thai with you, as the Hotel is new and not well known yet. We did - and had no problems, as the directions are clear on the back of the Hotel Brochure, available in reception.
If you are looking for a wonderful little hide away, with great service and reasonable prices - this is the place for you.
Also a tip - do try Le Crystal Restaurant near to the Hotel - this offers 5* French Cuisine and service. Also on the Banks of the Ping River, and just 1 Km away. We were astounded to find such quality - and the two businesses compliment each other well.

My husband and I and our 11 yr son just stayed 5 nights here, and we were delighted. Fantastic place to 'chill'. Everything was great- the staff were wonderful, the restaurant had a small but delicious menu, breakfast was excellent. There are only 50 rooms, but as we were in low season and it's pretty new, we were often on our own at the pool. We were upgraded to a large room with 2 kingsized beds. Marvellous time. It's relatively unknown so far, so recommend you take a map to show the driver of tuk-tuk, where to get you back to. (It's about 7 minutes from old city) Tuk-tuk about100 baht. I would certainly recommmed this place.

As others have commented, the Lanna Mantra...
As others have commented, the Lanna Mantra is not centrally located but a taxi can easily take you to the night market or temples in the old part of the city. The place is indeed restful and a quiet retreat from some of the more crowded and noisy parts of Chiang Mai. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is good with a nice variety if you wish to eat on the premises. Wine is available by the bottle but of limited variety. High speed Internet is available at a reasonable rate in the lobby area. The room and bath areas are quiet, air conditioned, clean, and quite lovely and most rooms also have a nice balcony overlooking the river, pool and or lotus pond.

22.03.2006 - 28.03.2006 I stayed 6 days at this absolutely superb Hotel. The staff unbeatable! Helpful in any kind and always a smile. Location at Ping River, superb view, pool above the river. Nice to relax. Room spacious and very clean, nice balcony. As the hotel is far from city, the shuttle is convenient at any time, cheap 100.00 THB per way p.p.
One of the loviest places I have been in Thailand!

The grounds of Lanna Manta are beautiful, the pool is gorgeous, and the rooms are large and well appointed. The positives are the friendly staff, pretty ambience, and riverside locale. The downsides are the location - it is quite far from the center of Chiang Mai, and difficult or expensive to get to town. Also, the neighboring property has roosters, so if you are located on the left side (facing the river), prepare to be woken very, very early by crowing. Breakfast was so-so, but in a lovely setting.

We stayed at Lanna Mantra for 5 days and enjoyed every moment. The architecture and athmosfere of the place is fantastic. The rooms are cosy and clean and the service and friendliness of the staff is outstanding. The pool area next to the river is second to none eventhough we didn't spent to much time there.
It is not walking distance to the city but you will have a taxi in less than 10 minutes.

A delightful family run small Thai boutique...
A delightful family run small Thai boutique hotel which is only 7 months old. Lanna Mantra is on a quiet reach of the Ping River about a 10 minute drive from the centre of Chang Mai! The landscaping in the garden was lovely, a team of gardners tend the grounds each day and they are really beautiful and create a very peaceful ambience - the large balcony of our room overlooked the lotus pond - absolutely perfect for reading a book! Other rooms overlook the large swimming pool,childrens swimming pool and river. All rooms feature a water( pond or pool(s) and river) views.
Rooms were spacious and included 'luxury' items such as tea/coffee making facilities, mini-bar, hairdryer and the TV movie channels HBO and Star Movies. Breakfast comprised of fresh fuit, a range of juices, cereals, pastries, breads, bacon , eggs, sausgages, ham, thai style food and you could order freshly made scrambled eggs or omlettes.
We loved the hotel soooooooo much, we stayed 3 weeks and plan to return next year. The owners negotiated a good rate (below hotel club last minutes rate )with us once we decided to extend our 3 day stay to 3 weeks. "Everything is done with a smile on their dials" and by the time we left we felt part of their extended family, even got invited to a family birthday party, wonderful array of food and, we light white lanterns with fire and released them into the night sky from the edge of the riverbank! Very special.
For those of you with a car, parking is available and a security guard is employed to ensure the security of the compund. Transport to and from the hotel was available, the hotel will take you to the city by car for 200 baht (aboutUS$5.00 or Australian $6.00) per car, a private metered Taxi will charge you 150 Baht, we used Taxi 41 Mr Pravit extensively over a three week period and found him to be very good and reliable. As the hotel is relatively new some local city drivers are unsure of its location, so it is always handy to take a brochure from the hotel with the address in Thai. We would encourage you to take the hotel mini van to the sunday market in Walking Street around the Tha Pae gate, it was much better than the night market..........entertainers and musicians in the streets and a wider range of craft and clothing as well as art works.
If you want "to chill" in a lovely, peaceful and relaxed environment with access to the hustle and bustle of Chang Mai you will love Lanna Mantra.
