we were upgraded without asking as rooms...
we were upgraded without asking as rooms were available, motorcycle hire was cheaper than anywhere else as was the tours we booked a typical budget hotel no frills but clean and friendly

Look it was ok for what it...
Look it was ok for what it was, The steps were very step I would hate to fall down them a lift would have been nice as I was staying on the top floor, but it was clean had a tv and hot water and I had just come from a 5 star hotel on Koh samui which was bh14000 per night so I knew this was not going to be the Hilton and it was not but it was not all that bad, if you are looking for a place where you want to dump your gear and go to the beach go shopping hang around the bars and then late at night you want some where clean to dump your head its fine for the price. fuss-free check-in and check-out. walking distance to town (!!), massage parlours and patong beach, of course. amenities nearby such as 24/7 convenience store, roadside food stalls, etc. super value for money! you pay and you get more than what you expect with its superb location and service.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, although I had problems with the hot water, the friendly service and good location make it impressive accommodation at a really affordable price.

We were very disappointed with the place....
We were very disappointed with the place. On the picture and advertisement, there is a pool provided but when we got their there is no other facilities provided in that building. We have to travel to their other resort if we want to enjoy the pool which is not a convenient travel for us. Also, when we called Sunset Mansion they told us that transportation is provided for free since we are booking the bigger room which is the apartment room. But later on they asked us to pay additional for the transport service since they are saying that there is a miscommunication because we booked through agency. This was not clearly communicated to us before hand and when we asked them for a waiver because the fault is not on our side, they declined. Upon paying them for transport, they did not even issue a receipt at all in spite of our demand. Overall, the room and service is not worth the value for our money and the location is also far.

The accommodation is at a less busy...
The accommodation is at a less busy spot along a happening area. Steps away, there will be convenience stores. Further down the road, we can find roadside seafood stalls, street stalls selling tourist items, shopping centres, pubs, resturants etc. Pretty safe to walk back even at 12mn. The staff are extremely friendly & helpful. The apartment is big and comfy & bedroom has air-conditioning. My only headache was that the water heater in bathroom was not working. I only found out from our receptionist later that we could have gone to them for help! One little thing to note is there is no lift, only staricase. The steps were a little high hence a bit difficult to carry heavy luggage while climbing the stairs. The receptionist was very considerate by allowing us to use the common toilet to bathe eventhough we have already checked out. Else we will have to board our plane with sea-water and sand on our clothes.
