| "The rooms in the old side are in need of updating and the bathroom was old with a cracked bath. However, the bed was large and comfy and the room was clean.
Would recommend that people stayed in the new side as the rooms may be better - certainly worth asking to see the rooms before checking in.
The breakfast was great and was one of the few hotels in Nepal that gave you confidence that it's restaurant and catering facilities were clean and hygenic.
Location was central and it was easy to get a taxi to other places.
The garden was well kept, though the pool was relatively small and cold. " |

| "Although this hotel is trading on its past reputation somewhat it is still a good choice in Kathmandu. Gardens and general facilities were very good and the public rooms were up to 5 star standard. The rooms however, in common with most hotels I stayed at in Nepal could do with a bit of refurbishment." |

| "Yak and Yeti is a good choice due to its central location, good service and nice rooms. Nevertheless, they really have problems with pigeons and should DEFINITELY do something about that (most of all, against the dirt)!" |

| "The hotel is quite old fashioned and need a deep renovation in the rooms and some social areas (also the swimmingpool is very old). We had to change the room to Executive floor since the deluxe room, even if we got it in the in the new wing, was quite old and the smell was really bad.
Our impression was that some years ago probably it was the best hotel in town, but now it is only a normal one with no special charm, but more expensive than others, of course.
If I came back to Kathmandu I would probably try a different option." |

| "The Yak and Yeti is centrally located and is set in pleasant grounds giving a sense of tranquility in the midst of a bustling capital city.
The staff were always pleasant and happy to assist and help when needed. However the Yak and Yeti is NOT a 4 star hotel! And unknown when booking has two wings an Old and New.
I would classify the New wing as less than 4 star comparing it with other 4 star hotels I stay in around the world, the Old wing much less than 4 star.
When booking through Asiarooms I was automatically booked into the Old wing. I asked to be moved to the New wing which was not a problem but was required to pay a $15 per night supplement for the change. This I found unacceptable but in the end paid as I wanted the better condition the new wing offered.
Would I stay in the Yak and Yeti again; probably but if I required serious 4 star accommodation probably not.
The room was clean. The TV had all the English Satellite channels plus CNN. There was a room safe which is nice but no Mini bar fridge. Breakfast was acceptable but not great.
Respectfully

| "Although a little dated (the bathroom was very dated and in definite need of modernisation, but clean) the Yak and Yeti was an appealing hotel with beautiful, tranquil gardens which offered a refuge from the hustle and bustle of K'mandu. The room was attractive, with its brickwork and wood, and everything was very clean. Limited choice of restaurants while I was there - sadly, the famous Chimney Room was being renovated. Breakfast good and service excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely be happy to stay there again, though would probably choose to pay more for better bathroom. Ideal location -- easy to walk to Thamel and to old town, although plenty of taxis nearby if you don't want to walk!" |

| "Wonderful hotel - stayed in the Newari wing which is not the old palace wing but was still very good. The great thing about the hotel is the inclusive breakfast (I've rarely come across such a display of gastronomic goodies anywhere!), the free casino coupons worth $300 (we stayed for 6 nights so booked the stay as 2 consecutive casino packages for 3 nights each), the free alcohol (at the casino) and the fee buffet dinner and live entertainment. 2 half-days sight-seeing was thrown in as well. Great package.
The location of the hotel is also excellent - as Durbar Marg is centrally located for access to Thamel, New Road etc.
We will definitely stay here again." |
