Wonderful hotel - stayed in the Newari wing which is not the old palace wing but was still very good. The great thing about the hotel is the inclusive breakfast (I've rarely come across such a display of gastronomic goodies anywhere!), the free casino coupons worth $300 (we stayed for 6 nights so booked the stay as 2 consecutive casino packages for 3 nights each), the free alcohol (at the casino) and the fee buffet dinner and live entertainment. 2 half-days sight-seeing was thrown in as well. Great package.
The location of the hotel is also excellent - as Durbar Marg is centrally located for access to Thamel, New Road etc.
We will definitely stay here again.

| "The rooms in the old side are in need of updating and the bathroom was old with a cracked bath. However, the bed was large and comfy and the room was clean.
Would recommend that people stayed in the new side as the rooms may be better - certainly worth asking to see the rooms before checking in.
The breakfast was great and was one of the few hotels in Nepal that gave you confidence that it's restaurant and catering facilities were clean and hygenic.
Location was central and it was easy to get a taxi to other places.
The garden was well kept, though the pool was relatively small and cold. " |

| "Although this hotel is trading on its past reputation somewhat it is still a good choice in Kathmandu. Gardens and general facilities were very good and the public rooms were up to 5 star standard. The rooms however, in common with most hotels I stayed at in Nepal could do with a bit of refurbishment." |

| "Yak and Yeti is a good choice due to its central location, good service and nice rooms. Nevertheless, they really have problems with pigeons and should DEFINITELY do something about that (most of all, against the dirt)!" |

| "The hotel is quite old fashioned and need a deep renovation in the rooms and some social areas (also the swimmingpool is very old). We had to change the room to Executive floor since the deluxe room, even if we got it in the in the new wing, was quite old and the smell was really bad.
Our impression was that some years ago probably it was the best hotel in town, but now it is only a normal one with no special charm, but more expensive than others, of course.
If I came back to Kathmandu I would probably try a different option." |
