We stayed here in Nov '99 and really enjoyed it. The rooms are nice, not luxurious, but very comfortable. What made our stay outstanding, though, was the staff. Just wonderful.

| "Excellent location and helpful staff. But the rooms are old and a major problem is, that the windows facing the main street are not noice isolated. I didn't sleep at all the first night due to traffic and other noice from the street. Reception gave me a new room facing the back street the following day, but 50% of the rooms are facing the main street, so be aware....!" |

| "Satisfactory. For this price level there is a choice.
The Mercure is excellently situated for the harbour and town centre. The rooms are a good size but show their age and would benefit from a refurbish. A good breakfast and views in the top floor restaurant. Plenty of restaurants and bars in easy walking distance.
Rival hotels, American chains, are modern but up the hill and even young people we met had found it wearing.
On balance, I would return to the Mercure.
