After reading mixed reviews of the hotel prior to booking I must say that our experience of the Regency was very positive for the five nights that we stayed there. There was a delay getting our room on arrival as the previous guest had an extended check out and we had requested an early check-in! An awkward situation for any hotel to resolve and we had to wait for the room to become available, however in fairness to the Regency they did offer an alternative room and part of the delay was because they were trying to accommodate our room preferences (king size bed and upper floor). We spent a couple of hours sitting in the bar by the pool watching the world go by and started to unwind, no sense in being in a hurry when you are on holiday anyway.
We encountered no arrogance or rudeness from the staff who we found to be helpful and professional. October would appear to be a quieter and more laid back time for holidaying in Boracay and we found the location of the hotel to be ideal with its proximity to D’Mall and good restaurants. On the occasions we ventured along to boat station 1 it appeared to be less busy than the area where we were staying. The shooter sessions and wild partying we read about before coming were not in evidence and that suited us as we are not lovers of big boisterous crowds.
One of the criticisms made by others about the hotel is that reminder notices about charges for damage are posted in the rooms. After noting the number of beach-side outlets offering hair braiding and dying I can understand why the hotel would be concerned, as henna dye would be almost impossible to remove from the white bed linen.
So is The Regency 5 star? Possibly not, however it depends on your perspective. If you consider the logistics of building a resort in such a location I would say they have done an excellent job and to expect a fully fledged 5 star hotel for this price is not totally realistic. Service was good, the breakfast buffet was O.K. If you wanted toast and fried eggs you had to ask but it was brought to the table in minutes. The Korean beachside restaurant was also very good.
We have spent many holidays in Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia and my Engineering work in Oil and Gas has meant long spells away in Asia generally. This was our first visit to the Philippines and we were very impressed with the friendliness and attitude of the people. We found the white beach of Boracay and the waters around it to be aptly deserving of its description as a tropical paradise and plan to return to The Regency.

"Second time i have stayed here and would do so again. Is most central location and has the best gym of any hotel which is important to me. Being central on the beach means you get to be right in the middle of the promenade for choosing where to eat etc.."

"The hotel was perfectly situated for folk looking to enjoy the Boracay beach and all it had to offer. Facilities were excellent, rooms very very comfortable and well laid out. Room service, in fact, overall service, was warm, efficient and done with a smile. Restaurants and bars were a lot of fun. Overall, the experience was wonderful - after weeks on the go, the few days here were an incredible relaxation experience and I'm returning later this year for sure. While one of the the more expensive hotels on the beach front, it was not over priced and I felt it was definately value for money. What sort of busines one would do in Boracay I'm not sure ..... hence my rating. Well laid out however maybe a few to many stairs for some seniors - in saying that I have seniors joining me later in the year after hearing about the place."

"I highly recommend Regency hotel in Boracay. I would consider coming back. My only suggestion is to have longer time access to the pool."

"Overall the Regency is an excellent, although pricey, resort ideally located in the middle of the action on White Beach. The staff, for the most part wwere friendly and helpful. The bedroom and bathroom were fine, adequately sized and supplied with the appropriate amenities. The two swimming pools were great. I thought the breakfast buffet was very average at best. The internet connection in my room did not work, which was a problem for me. I'd probably stay there again, but there are other less expensive alternatives available right in the same area of White Beach."
