4/5  Posted by MR. TOVEY, Stephen, United Kingdom in July 2008
"Overall a very enjoyable experience. An excellent location for Manila very close to Manila Bay, Intramuros and Robinsons Mall. Friendly and efficient staff, clean room and linen, quiet A/C, good choice of TV channels, good standard inroom safe. Pretty good value for money too at £33 / $65 a night either via AsiaRooms or at the desk. And the free unlimited WiFi internet access was a particular plus point. The room was an adequate size but not impressive; and the breakfast was a tad uninspiring. But these are minor quibbles - I'd recomend this hotel to anyone except backpackers and I'd book there again without a second thought if I go back to Manila. "

"The hotel in old Manila is small but the staff are polite and friendly. It does not take long to know the staff by name because there are not many. Room is small but clean and well kept. Service is prompt. We did not see any guests except at breakfast. The breakfast buffet is not fancy but the spread is reasonably good, with Continental and local fare. There is not many facilities but overall the hotel is a good place if you need a clean, convenient and reliable place without having to bust your budget. I will most likely stay at this hotel again. "really old buidling, if you like that historic feel. staff are friendly & always alert. location is good if you like nightlife & eating out. not on main road so delays in getting out from hotel by car as small lanes are usually jammed."

"Not what i expect from a Best Western hotel. Only suitable for low budget travellers."

"I am glad I had the opportunity to stay at this location. I stayed in a room on the 6th floor which the elevator does not go to. You take the charming antique elevator to the 5th and walk up stairs to the 6th (slow but classic). I loved the very large bathroom and shower. The bedroom area was larger than average. Decor typical of hotels in the area (nothing to get excited about). It is in a great location if you are there for the nightlife - just down from the large Hyatt in Malate near all the restaurants and bars. The service was good. There was rennovation work going on in other rooms (no noise issue) but an indication they are upgrading. Breakfast buffet was different each morning and though not extensive had an adequate selection. I will be staying there again for its comfortable rooms and great location."

"I stayed here for one night last month in a standard room and was not very impressed. The hotel is rather old, which is not too unusual for this area of Manila, but the rooms and hallways really show the age, with very little investment put into renovation it seems, The lobby is nice looking though. The room itself was very simple. A mini fridge was included however. The bathroom was not clean with much mildew evident in the tile caulk and several hairs on the shower floor upon check-in. Also, the shower drain backed up quickly upon use. I would not stay here again as I feel there are much better rooms available for similar pricing in the vicinity. I've stayed in several Best Western Hotels, including the Best Western in Makati and this one does not live up to their overall quality that I have experienced in the past. To lobby staff do deserve credit however as they were friendly, professional and attentive. "

"This hotel was nice and comfortable except that we were given a room up where the elevator did not reach."
3/5  Posted by MR. LUI, andrew, Australia in February 2008
"Very good experience (staff very polite and helpful) except for the way the hotel handled a plumbing problem. We were asked to stay elsewhere by the hotel while the plumbing was attended to and the options given to us were very poor quality motels or hostels worth much less than the room we had paid for at the hotel. Nothing was done to compensate us for having to spend a night elsewhere. "
