4/5  Posted by MR. CHEUNG, Adam, Hong Kong in June 2009
"The hotel location is very convenience, near shopping malls, MRT, Church and Museums. The room size is good. Breakfast is good too. I requested for high floor and late check out, they all accepted. People there are polite and helpful except the room cleaning lady. If you don't need to have a very comfortable five star or luxery hotel, it is a good choice."

"Arrived at hotel at ~8am. Check in was not till 2pm but we were offered a standard room straight away (as booked) or if we wanted to wait about 1/2hr they had upgraded us to the new rooms (deluxe I think they were). We waited and within the 1/2hr our room was ready. These renovated rooms are lovely. Really fresh with new decor, flat screen telly, new bathrooms, desk in room. Did have a peek in a standard room and whilst they didn't look too bad our room was a definite improvement. B/F was included and was perfectly adequate with cereal, fruit, hot food, egg station, toast etc.. Staff were all very friendly. Hotel is in a pretty good location with only a couple of blocks to either Bugis or City Hall MRT stations. Didn't use the pool but had a look and whilst not big would have been fine for a cooling dip. Was pleasantly surprised as I had read a couple of negative reviews before we went. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again if the price is right!"

"Overall we were very pleased with the hotel, and was good value for money. The staff were very pleasant, and went out of their way to be helpful, the concierge staff could not do enough for you, and really stood out. Our cleaning lady was lovely!! We would recommend this to anyone who has to watch the money, but wants a good base in which to explore S/pore."

"OK just about sums it up"

"The Allson is perfectly located in Singapore and the staff were very helpful in directing us to different places. I was a bit disappointed to hear that other Australian guests were able to get their rooms at a better rate than ourselves as I thought by booking through asiarooms.com this would provide the best deal. We paid $234.00 per night which included breakfast. We were told that Allson Hotel was owned by Qantas and therefore maybe we could have got a better rate by booking through Qantas Holidays direct who organised our Superstar Virgo cruise."

"Everything about this hotel was average. Nothing good except the location is very close to Bugis Junction for shopping, and nothing really bad. It was just a very average hotel."

"This was my 3rd stay at Allson and all up to my expectations. Good value for money and excellent location."

"Great breakfasts and good location."

"The room is adequate in size. however beware that the term deluxe is lower in rating than a so-called premier room. The latter rates the main local newspaper, the former does not.Thats a pity since it only costs 90 cents Singapore and it would not have left something of a bitter taste that they discriminated on that basis - after all ,almost every hotel of a 4 star rating provides a good newspaper. the bathroom, while clean is very small as noted on other reviews, but the shower is nice, hot and strong and for a single person adequate but for a couple or a family probably inadequate. the airconditioning appears static ,cold on a middling day but lukewarm on a hot day and one is unable to make the room colder. Placing it below 10C does not lower the room temperature at all but appears to keep it at about 18 to 20C. The room is kept spotless and the housekeeping staff are very nice and efficient. concierge and door service varies from excellent to middling, depending on the staff at the time of service. The breakfast that comes with the room rate is less spectacular than one would like and contains a mix of asian and western foods but is still relatively basic. If one wants a basic breakfast this suffices but if a much nicer breakfast is wanted ,this is not it. The location is very good being within walking distance of multiple areas of interest. It is an old hotel with attempts at a somewhat sloppy upgrade. Overall i expected more for a hotel that charges between US $150 to $180 a night depending on when the booking was made"

"Overall the hotel was suitable for our needs. Nice breakfast, easy to get taxi's, great hawkers centre next door and walking distance to shops. I feel the rooms need an upgrade, ie. new bed covers."
