This hotel is suitable for the more luxurious back packer and/or the cheap comfort traveller. The hotel is well situated : at the end of a road called Mount Eilzabeth. Orchard Road can be reached by using a short cut through the York Hotel on the other side of the street, passing the Goodwood Park Hotel, or walking 5 minutes down Mount Elizabeth and passing throug the Paragon Shopping Mall. It was opened in 1994, but is already run down. The carpet in the breakfast room is old, stained and derelict. And so are the carpets in the corridors and in the rooms. The rooms are very small. In fact, the first room we got, was so tiny and dirty it remembered me the old HDB's in Ang Mo Kio. Decorated with stained wallpaper, there are no balconies in the rooms and one cannot open the windows. Staff is quite unfriendly and service is lousy. A welcome word from the front desk is hard to trace; a smile even harder.
In the breakfast room one might think one is on a biking trip : muggs set upside down on the table, decorated with plastic table matts form the majority of the setting. I even suspect the hotel has to economise on electricity, because the breakfast room is quite dark. The pool is not very well maintained (leaves float in the pool) and with one or two machiens and no weights the hotel cannot really speak of a gym.
To end : this hotel is FAR apart from the usual Singapore standard of hotels. It is derelict, dirty and staff is unfriendly and ill trained. Not worth it's money ! And definately NOT first class (as they claim). For a little more money, please do go to the Goodwood Park Hotel, or the York Hotel (in the same area).

| "We were pleased with our room though we had to wait a couple of hours for it to be cleaned (we arrived early in the morning). We found the front desk helpful, the breakfast more than adequate and the location most convenient! The room and bathroom were clean and best of all - the beds were most comfortable. I will be staying there again and will happily recommend it others. " |

| "The rooms in this hotel could probably do with some refurshment, especially the bathrooms. However for the price and location this hotel is a good deal in Singapore. I have stayed here twice and would probably stay here again. The swimming pool area is very nice for families who might want some shade at certain times of day. Service is very good. The Breakfast buffet is good but they could do with changing it a bit more. On the whole a thumbs up. " |

| "Absolutely fantastic service from the front desk, porters and also waiting staff in the restaurant.
$38.00 for two beers was a bit much for my liking.
Great Location, good room and poll area also.
I would be happy to stay again and hopefully will in the not too distant future." |
