| "IF YOU LIKE A PLACE TO STAY AND NOT FUZZY ABOUT LOCATION AND WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE THEN THIS IS THE HOTEL FOR YOU!
IF YOU WANT VALUE TO YOUR HARD EARNED CASH THEN I SUGGEST YOU FIND ANOTHER HOTEL.
THIS HOTEL NEEDS REFURBISHMENT...COMPLETE RENOVATION. MY VERY SMALL ROOM WAS SMELLY (SMOKER'S HAVEN)!!! ALL FITTINGS ARE FALLING APART!
CHECK IN TIME WAS 3PM. SO IF YOU COME AT 7AM EXHAUSTED FROM A LONG HAUL FLIGHT FROM THE UK LIKE I DID. BRACE YOURSELF BECAUSE YOU NEED ALL THE EXTRA STRENGTH TO GO SOMEWHERE AND COME BACK AT 3PM. EVEN IF I OFFERED TO PAY FOR EARLY CHECK INS THEY WONT LET YOU.
SO DONT WASTE YOUR TIME! LOOK FOR ANOTHER HOTEL!" |

| "The Emerald was a perfect hotel for me to spend one night in Singpaore between flights. It's not far from the MRT stations off the hectic nightlife area of Geylang Road. The staff were friendly when I arrived late at night and the room was clean, with TV and free bottled water and snacks.
A good, easy place to overnight in Singapore for people on a budget who don't want a hostel." |

| "What a great place and great location. If a few females in tight dresses are the reason for the negative reviews I think you shouldn't travel. First, the hotel was cute, and clean, no frills, but nice nonetheless. If you like to EAT, the location is ABSOLUTELY astounding. #1 in all of singapore. You can literally walk out the door at even the most odd hour of the night and be treated to endless variety of cheap and delicious food stalls. Staff were friendly...take a little initiative yourself and smile...it goes along way and staff will treat you better. I read a lot of the comments here before booking, and was a little worried, but now that I've been there, I'd say its crazy NOT to stay in Geyleng area. This hotel isn't a far walk to Keilling SMRT either. Oh, and I read a lot of complaints about the bathroom setup.... it's based on the idea of the Kamar mandi, and you are suppose to WASH yourself after the toilet, so THAT why the close proximinity of the two. Its not BAD design, its design on purpose. Wetter is cleaner. Anyway full thumbs up. Stay here, save your money for eating. And I didn't see any prostitutes in the hotel, just for the record." |

| "We stayed here for one night after arriving in Singapore at 4:00am. It's in Singapore's red light district (Geylang), though we didn't experience any disturbances at all.
The room is TINY. I could not lay my suitcase flat in front of the bed, it was that small. The remote control for the TV did not work, although that didn't matter because it was just as easy to reach over and change the channel due to the tiny room.
The bathroom is extremely small, and tended to smell like sewage. Granted, almost every Singapore bathroom I used had whiffs of sewage at certain times of the day (whoever said Singapore was a first-world country?), though it was perhaps a bit more constant at Fragrance Hotel.
The shower does not have its own receptacle - you actually have to shower with the sink and toilet right next to you, with nothing covering them. The water just sprays down and gets the whole floor wet.
The only reason to stay here is if you need a cheap place for the night, such as in our circumstance.
The staff however, were polite and they were there to check us in at 4:00am.

| "If you are looking for a cheap, clean room with all you need, that hotel is perfect. For women, we are mother and daughter, you should be aware of the area. The Gaylang street is quite busy with these ladies, food courts and so on. One evening we ate there and we had really lots of fun watching the scene. The people are really friendly and supportive.
The place is 3 MRT stations away from the city centre. To be find the place is a little bit tricky because of all the Lor lanes. Unfortunately it was raining, so we did catch a taxi. When you have understand the system of the streets you will find it easily to come back. The rooms are spacey enough, very clean, with TV, water kettle, coffee powder is provided and some cracker. Nice. Down stairs are two PCs for internet access.
For that prize you can hardly find a better place to stay in Singapore. " |

| "good value for money.just on the border of the red
light district.have stayed in other hotels in the
area.one of the better ones in bigger room size
and bathrooms.the only thing that it needs is a
bar fridge.but for value for money,it can't be beaten.
the staff was pleasant and helpful." |

| "The hotel was clean and quite comfortable although small. The location isn't great though. It is about a 10 min walk to the MRT and then about a 15 min ride to attractions (Orchard road, etc.) There isn't much around in the way of coffee shops and all the restaurants were chinese places therefore nothing in the way of western breakfast. The cost reflects what you get though, it is cheap for Singapore." |
