The room was great value. Service was fine. If you are adventurous, this room is for you.
I didn't like the following. First, immediately across the street (a small side street)was a hotel which was surrounded by "hookers" (women on the street). In fact, that hotel had posted a "short time" rate of four hours for S$16.
The neighborhood had quite a bit of criminal element living in it (from Lorong Geylang 9 to 20 people told me). Walking in that neighborhood at night was a little dicey. Interesting. I'll give you that.
I took a picture of a chinese druggest on Geylang Road and was told by him and another man that it was not wise to take pictures in that neighborhood.
However, those things are beyond the control of the hotel. What I mainly object to was the fact that beds were coated with latex or vinyl. I find it very unpleasant to feel a vinyl coating through the sheets. Maybe this is sanitary or practical but the only other such beds I have encountered have been in the rooms of children who have bed wetting problems.
The rooms are extraordinarily small. I think I would prefer a smaller bed and have a little more space. There was hardly room for my bag. The bathroom was cramped but very efficient. The location of public transport (MRT) was a little too far to be comfortable.
All in all, you get what you pay for. I like what Fragrance is attempting to accomplish. It is just a little to minimalist for this traveller. And I spent 12 weeks travelling in SEA and staying in budget hotels. In fact, this place was more than any other place I stayed at (Singapore prices are inflated). This place would be near the bottom of my list of places I stayed..

| "Tiny rooms, good for Solo trips.
Blanket and bed sheet pretty smelly.
Bathroom good, although no curtain.
Good for just spending the night.
It's mores suited as a 'Transit' Hotel.
Not advisable for family, especially kids.
Overall, a reasonable place, as long as you go Solo or don't have a 'Fussy' spouse.
In red light area. Won't get 'Good Vibes'.
to sum up, 'Touch & Go' Hotel" |

| "We were transiting through Singapore and stayed only one night. For the purpose, the accommodation was quite adequate for a short stay but for a longer stay I would look elsewhere. Rooms were small but clean and staff pleasant. Good value for a budget hotel. Situated in a red light district, the area gets quite busy at night but no problems. I think the place is more suited to younger single people or couples." |
