We stayed here for one night after arriving in Singapore at 4:00am. It's in Singapore's red light district (Geylang), though we didn't experience any disturbances at all.
The room is TINY. I could not lay my suitcase flat in front of the bed, it was that small. The remote control for the TV did not work, although that didn't matter because it was just as easy to reach over and change the channel due to the tiny room.
The bathroom is extremely small, and tended to smell like sewage. Granted, almost every Singapore bathroom I used had whiffs of sewage at certain times of the day (whoever said Singapore was a first-world country?), though it was perhaps a bit more constant at Fragrance Hotel.
The shower does not have its own receptacle - you actually have to shower with the sink and toilet right next to you, with nothing covering them. The water just sprays down and gets the whole floor wet.
The only reason to stay here is if you need a cheap place for the night, such as in our circumstance.
The staff however, were polite and they were there to check us in at 4:00am.

| "We stayed here for 10 days in September.Proximity to MRT, bus and some of the cheapest , best quality food in Singapore. The room was quiet in the evening and the bathroom much larger than some more expensive Singapore hotels we've stayed in. The location was excellent, despite negative comments others have passed about Geylang. My partner and I came and went and at all hours of the day and night felt safe. The staffs service was excellent and both wireless and hard wired internet availability was an unexpected plus. Rooms were cleaned each day and 'coming home' was always a pleasure with water, coffee and light refreshments always replenished. Would stay here again and recommend it for couples, families and businessmen." |

| "A budget hotel, and that shows in every aspect. The room needed thorough refurbishment.
But the location, close to Kellang MRT, means it's good for the budget traveller who wants inexpensive accomodation and travel round the city." |

| "A good clean hotel that is fit for the budget traveller. Fairly close to the MRT transport system which can link you directly to the airport or any of the major places in Singapore. In the red light district but I always felt safe and had no troubles at all. Very helpful staff." |

| "First of all, the hotel wasn't near the Kallang MRT station, it was like a 20min walk from the station so if you are carrying alot of heavy stuffs, I suggest you take a taxi from the station going to the hotel. When it comes to service, I can say the their service was great and the receptionist allowed us to have an early check-in(around 3 hours early). The room we took was a twin superior which was just enough for two. The bathroom was clean but a little bit smelly so we bought a deodorizer to negate the smell. There was a night when the power in our room went out. We called the receptionist and he got it fixed quickly. There were also times when the hotel maid forgot to replenish our daily ration of complimentary coffee and snacks so I called the frontdesk and they provided us immediately. When it comes to the surroundings, yes we saw some prostitutes in the street but never near or inside the hotel. Also, if you are a member of the Church of Christ(Iglesia ni Cristo) like us, the location of the worship service was very close to this hotel, the venue was around 40 meters away. Overall, I can say that our stay in this hotel was pleasant - the room and services they provided us was above that of can be expected from a budget hotel." |
