I stayed at The Gallery for 15 nights from 26 Jan to 10 Feb and, as an older single woman, felt very comfortable there and was very well looked after.
I had asked for a single, non-smoking room with breakfast and for a very good rate had a good-sized twin-bedded room on one of the non-smoking floors. I particularly liked the way the floor area was lit when I put my feet to the floor to go to the bathroom in the night.
The self-service breakfast in the very colourfully furnished dining room was excellent, with plenty of choice, and a chef on hand if you wanted something cooked that was not already available. All the staff were so welcoming, helpful and polite.
The hotel was a 15 minute walk to the nearest MRT station (Clarke Quay), and was a very pleasant stroll along the river. Although very hot, I did cross the bridges as appropriate to keep in the shade as much as possible.
Alternatively, the helpful concierge can summon an air-conditioned taxi very quickly. The prices are very reasonable and the drivers are usually very friendly and chatty.
I also enjoyed sitting in the small, but shady and well-designed garden.
The only downsides for me were the rather too firm mattress, and problems I had with the finger-tip control panel to work the lights, air conditioning, etc. It did keep going wrong, even after the technician had called. I was offered another room, but I chose to stay to avoid the upheaval.
Despite these problems, I would certainly stay at The Gallery again. I was made very welcome.
