"Stayed in a triple room with my boyfriend and his mum for one night only, due to its closeness to the airport (about 10-15 min taxi drive away). Good price, next door to a 7 Eleven, so the no-fridge thing is not really a problem. Some interesting shops around, and didn't really notice the redlight district-factor at all. Very affordable and clean...bathroom came with toothbrushes and soap, and I was very pleased with the service."

"This was actually my last choice as all the other hotels I put a reservation in for were fully booked. This hotel is 20 minutes away from the city which i didnt mind at all, it is in the red light district but the hotel is in a safe area, as no one bothered us at all. Its a good place for muslims as 80% of the resturants serve halal food. The Hotel itself - well i didnt really expect much as i had read all the reviews, what i did expect was a window in my room.. but there wasnt one, also the hotel hasnt got a resturant which i hated as we had to go out every morning for breakfast and you have to hire out a mini fridge, hair dryer, iron etc as these things are not provided. Staff was really nice, room was spacious, i would say its convenient for bugdet travellers and for people who will be out all day and just need a place to sleep. "

"To Whom it may Concern: My sister and I loved being at your horel - the only thing we did not like was that the bathroom had no handles to grip when wanting to get in or out, that is extremely dangerous when you elderly as one can slip and fall. My sister had a difficult time getting out of the tub so I had to sit on the chair so that she could grab on to the back of the cair to get out. Other than that it was very nice and thank you for having us. Sincerely Yours, Glenda Simoncioni Vancouver, Canada."

"We have stayed at this hotel twice before and knew what to expect. It is a reasonable budget hotel. Clean enough, however, room is old and badly in need of renovating, especially the bathroom. But if you want cheap accomodation that will do for the night its good. The location is quite good, food hall around the corner. Just take a blind eye to the red light district at night. There are nightclubs across the road! Go to bed at 10.30pm and you will miss it all."

"OK as far as it goes. My only real problem was a stale smoke smell in the room on a no smoking floor. That dissipated after leaving the window open for a couple of hours. Reception was okay but English was poor and they were not particularly helpful."

"Had a pleasent stay at the Gateway Hotel. However, the initial room I was given was extremely noisy due to an ally directly to the side of the room. The staff imediately relocated me to a different room upon my request. While the room was clean, the bathroom was in need of an upgrade. Other than the bath and shower area the room was sufficent and the staff accomadating. Travellers on a budget will find the Gateway a fair value. "

"Front counter staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived before check-in time and were allowed to leave our luggage there until check-in. The room needed a good clean and the bed sagged in the middle. There was a small fridge in the middle of the room when we arrived so we plugged it in but it was removed the next day. If we wanted a fridge in the room we would have to pay an extra $10 a day. The window shutters and curtains were new but apart from that everything else needs upgrading, a good clean and painting. The room smelled of cigarette smoke and as non-smokers we found this unpleasant. I would not stay there again."

"We choose this hotel because its not far from the airport. Location is good, food hall only around the corner. Price is very cheap, but facilities and service good. Room is average, but good enough if you just need somewhere to stay overnight or two nights. Not suitable for families."
4/5  Posted by MR. PHILLIPS, Maxwell, Australia in May 2008
"We enjoyed our stay although the room was quite small. We didn't have a fridge in the room although there was tea and coffee making facilities. A very up market internet system, coin use. The staff were friendly and helpful. From the street the hotel looks quite small only a double door frontage, surprisingly inside it is quite airy and roomy. The decor is good and gives and welcoming warmth. It is not far to the train station - 10 min walk and there are a lot of eateries close by, including and nice bakery just round the corner."
