Hotel Review posted by Steve Blake, United States in February 2004

This was one of many places we lodged during our month long visit to Thailand. And it was probably the MOST enjoyable. The rooms are sufficiently large and well aired. The staff is curteous and helpful. The food is tremendous. The views are unsurpassed anywhere in the world. Excursion trips are readily available and affordable. What a treat to listen to the surf from your room at night. I cannot say enough good things about this lodge. I recommend it above all others.

| "Service was very good, they helped me as best as they could. The pool was closed during my stay which is 1 of the reason I picked this hotel. The room quality of the first two rooms they offered me was not near satisfactory. The 3rd room was clean and nice but it was a double bed, no singles available. I would probably not return to this hotel until they updated their rooms. " |

| "We appreciate hotels in Singapore are not cheap (our daughter lives in Singapore and advised us of that!).
However, our main problems with the hotel were firstly, the breakfast needs to have some variety - each day it was the same (other than the eggs alternated between scrambled and omelette style). It would have been good to have some bacon perhaps and some choice for the fruit (water-melon and honeydew melon only), cereal (cornflakes or coco-pops only) and the bread offered no choice - white sliced only.
There was an incident which concerned us - one morning, I discovered an open staple (steel staple used in a stapling machine for documents!) in my mouth whilst eating cornflakes. I showed it to the lady managing the breakfast room and of course she apologised and disappeared towards the kitchen. It would have been pleasant to have received some formal apology from the hotel, but we did not hear any more.
Secondly, we asked at the reception desk one evening for some powdered milk we could use with our tea the following morning, as there was none in our room. The young lady behind the reception desk suggested we went to the 7/11 store! When we explained again what we wanted, we were told we could not have any because the kitchen was closed! I would have thought it not have taken much effort to arrange a couple of dried milk sachets for us as hotel guests, but it seemed that was not possible, so we had to make do with balck tea the following morning. Not a big deal, and almost funny (the suggestion we went to the 7/11 store to obtain the milk did at least give us a smile afterwards), but other hotel guests might not find it as amusing as we did.
Yours sincerely
Kevin Bishop" |

| "The most positive is the location. This hotel is fine as long as you need a place to sleep near an excellent location. Its not far from the nearest subway
and close to busy shopping district. The breakfast buffet is poor. They could easily improve the quality without much additional expense. At least better made scrambled eggs and better tea and coffee would have made a big difference. The hotel was busy and no one helped with our luggage.Of course we really could manage without help(suit cases with wheels).Internet
for $1 for 15 minutes in the lobby was useful.Travel desk was very helpful with local tours and directions.
There was no plugpoint for shavers in the bathroom. No
110 volt access like in newer hotels. There were inexpensive eating places closeby.Hotel prices in Singapore are high compared to Malaysia.I would recommend the hotel, unless someone is only used to extravagance and luxury.

| "Very disappointing! We would never come back again. Very poor service when we first arrive to check in. Hotel facilities needed to be upgraded eg. air conditioning was broken and was very cold. The bathroom was old and broken, the toilet did not work(did not flush properly).Daily cleaning service was very poor. Bed linens had stains and was not fresh. We would not recommend this place to anyone." |
