Would I stay at this location
again:

Most likely
Waterfront title is a little misleading as the water is more like a canal which the hotel backs onto. But this makes a pleasant location for outdoor dining - apart from the building noise acroos the canal when we were there. Location-wise the hotel is not really within comfortable walking distance of anything, however taxis are easily available and very inexpensive making the location much less important. On arrival there was a small glitch with the AsiaRooms voucher as the receptionist didn't quite recognise it at first. Room we were provided was not particularly well finished, the wallpaper was peeling in places and the ceiling looked like it should've had more coats of paint. The table had a large chunk broken off it with that side turned to the wall. In the bathroom, the paint finish was poor, the fittings mismatched and the toilet seat was wonky. The wardrobe/closet door was hanging off and it took some effort to contact someone who understood what I was complaining about. However it was fixed in a very short time after that. On the plus side, the room size was perfecly adaquate, the bed was very comfortable and everything worked. Complimentary tea and coffee was an exercise in tokenism though, with no more than 2 teabags left on any day and my wife had to keep asking for a couple more each day. It seemed a little stingy for a hotel of this calibre. Staff service was a little patchy, some staff were a little less than friendly, others could not have been more pleasant, so it evened itself out on that score. The breakfast included in the price was excellent, with more than enough choice to satisfy most appetites. We ate out in the evenings so cannot coment onthe restaurants in the hotel. Although my comments appear negative, overall we did enjoy it and would stay there again. Asia Rooms service was excellent and we will definitely be using them again next time. The price saving was genuine and significant, which offset the negative comments about the room. This hotel was our second choice, so it pays to have several hotels that appeal to you in any one area.

"EXCELLENT HOTEL AND VALUE FOR MONEY. THE STAFF WERE SO POLITE, FRIENDLY AND ATTENTIVE. FOOD WAS VARIED, PLENTIFUL AND WORTH STAYING IN THE HOTEL TO EAT THAN GO OUTSIDE."

"The room had suffered water damage and the wallpaper was hanging off one wall, with a large and smelly patch of mould on the carpet below it. There was a dressing table, rather than a desk, with a very hard dining chair. The dressing table had large handles on the fake drawers and the broadband lead was short, meaning the large handles were pressed into your chest if you tried to sit there and work. The bathroom had only a shower. The floor of the shower was pitted and in the pits was years of soapgrime. The English language TV channels were unwatchable due to the TV modulator being u/s (i was told this by staff) when I complained on arrival, i was told that all rooms had suffered similar water damage. On leaving a list of things for them to fix before going out the following day, I returned to find an offer of a better room. The new room was a suite and was very nice, but still only received 2 teabags a day (the previous room was a 1 teabag room), and still had no washing line. There is no lounge, no a la carte restaurant, just a piano bar and buffet restaurant (where i was informed that I could order a la carte). However both bar and buffet were in the foyer where hard floors and children running up and down laughing and shouting created a very unrestful surrounding. On sunday a large wedding party meant that the queue to get in the buffet for breakfast was 15-25 minutes long for most of the morning. Once in, it was almost impossible to see the food, let alone take some. Tea is already made and dispensed from a very large urn, which is continously boiling- making the tea a nasty grey colour and strange to the taste. It is about 20 minutes walk to the nearest mrt station, and although there are a couple of other hotels close by, many of the other nearby buildings are large blocks of HDB flats, so taxis are not as frequent as in more central locations. The building site next door starts work about 6.30am"

"Generally our stay at the hotel was pleasant, the service excellent, breakfast good. We were a little dissapointed in the room. We found that the carpets were shabby and the bathroom was in need of redecorating. The wall paper was peeling off in numerous places. If this is the standard of the majority of rooms then it is time for the hotel to have a major upgrade or redecoration to the rooms"
