My wife and I decided to book a Concorde Club room for our three night stay, as the extra cost (around $20) more than covered the cost of breakfast for two people. ( I had previously read all the reviews re the hotel in your travellers Tales on the Internet before we made our decision.) We were not dosappointed. We could not speak highly enough of the hotel. Both facilities and service were great from the moment we arrived.
The service from the doorman, through reception, and finally being taken to the room by the bellboy, could not be faulted for absolute courtesy and helpfulness. During our stay we very impressed by the attitude and helpfulness of the staff we encountered. The Concierge and doormen were wonderful in directing us with helpful advice in relation to eating and getting around Singapore generally. The Concorde room was a fine investment, starting with the buffet breakfast, and the complimentary cocktails in the evening.
We would recommend the Concorde toanyone planning a stopover in Singapore. It's slightly away from the centre of the city, but cabs are so cheap and plentiful getting around proved no problem.
From our experience I fail to understand why some letter writers to Travellers Tales labelled staff at the hotel " aloof and unhelpful". We will certainly return to the Concorde next time we are in Singapore.

| "From check in to check out everything was fine. The staff were always helpful and friendly. With regards to accomodation the rooms were well presented and very clean, as was the whole hotel. We included full breakfast in our stay which was a good choice as the food was well prepared and presented. The hotel offered good facilities which included swimming pool, fitness centre and launderette. The only downside was the location which was slightly away from the action. However taxis were readily available and very reasonably priced." |

| "Nice quiet hotel within a easy walk to Clark Quay and Orchard road is only 20 minutes walk.
No complaints the staff friendly and reception handled all queries very efficently. For a Holiday Inn hotel it gives top service. Have stayed there many times on business and pleasure. Plus on the 6th floor it has a couple of washing machines so you can clean your own clothes." |

| "There were 3 of us, so we paid for a triple room which was about $70 USD more than a double occupancy room, but when we arrived, we were put in a room with two SINGLE beds and a very small amount of floor space. They then planned to put a cot in on the limited floor space. So, we complained and were promptly switched to a larger room with one double bed and one single bed. This room was definitely the appropriate size and I'm not sure why they didn't just put us in there in the first place. Other than this, the hotel lived up to most expectations. The breakfast buffet was great, the location was ok and taxis were cheap to almost anywhere we wanted to go. The pool area is beautiful and the lobby area is worth some pictures. Very cool interior! I'd stay here again if I were not on a strict budget. " |

| "I can really recommend the Holiday Inn Hotel in Singapore. This hotel provides very good services in high standard. If you book the rooms through AsiaRooms.com the price for room is acceptable in comparison to the provided services.
I see one disadvantage in the distance to the subway. It takes maybe 15 minutes by walk and during the hot weather it is too long walking. But if you take the taxi, then it takes just a few minutes.

| "Washrooms need a bit of remodelling, but overall this is a very comfortable hotel geared towards the business traveller.
Close to Singapore river and Clark Quay for the tourist who wants to see "downtown" Singapore. MRT lines are about a 15 minute walk, but hotel bus drops off at Clark Quay MRT every hour or so." |
