Only got back from 2 weeks here 2 days ago, so while it's fresh in my mind.
Stay in Singapore frequently, and out of many, many hotels I've stayed in this country, this is one of the best. Recently refurbished, the lobby is bright, open, and very nice.
The restaurant is very clean, and prices are reasonable. Unlike some hotels I've stayed in though, their is a very good selection of food, and it is excellent. They offer the same menu as room service as well, most hotels have a cut down version. Your not really supposed to tip, but give the guy/gal who carries your bags, delivers room service, $1/$2.
The room is clean, and bright, unlike most hotels here. Although as normal in Singapore, bulbs are about 1 watt!!! Sheets are changed daily, and everything cleaned. Although, the cover sheet left something to be desired, as it looked like it was last washed during WWII, though this seems to be the same for all hotels. Also it seems to be policy in Singapore that carpets are not hoovered until you have signed out, so if like me your in for over 2 weeks, ask the maid to do it, otherwise the dust will build up.
Room service, and maintenace is very prompt.
If you want internet access, contact the hotel directly after you have booked on here, and make it clear. Also ask for a 'high' room facing the pool, so you get a good view for miles of Singapore. Internet access is a little expensive here, but with Centrino you can get round that, and McDonalds, Coffee bars, etc, usually offer free surfing.
Don't worry about carrying a laptop around, your 99.99% safe in Singapore, due to the levels of punishment for crime, their is very little of it. IE. Take cocaine for instance, <20grams min 5 years, 20-30 is min 20 years, 30 grams + you hang, no questions, no appeal, just the rope. Also don't drop litter, use chewing gum, spit, J walk, all illegal.
The hotel is well placed for Orchard Road, the life centre.
