"There were no bedside reading lights which we consider very important. There was also a light over the TV which kept being switched on and off as the switch was behind some pillows on the bed. But overall it was a pleasant hotel in a good location."

"We had problems with reception staff on our second visit. First visit two nights end of February on way to four week visit New Zealand. This was very good but on return end of March for further four nights, hotel hat first had no record of our booking. Took three hours to sort to our satisfaction. Otherwise the hotel suited our purpose well and idael location for city activities."

"This was probably a very good hotel in the sixties unfortunately while we were upgraded to a 'de-luxe'room it lookes as if it hadn't been updated for a very long time."

"we booked this hotel August 2007 and advised them that we would be arriving at between 4.00am and 5.ooam on the morning of the 1st of November so we paid for an extra night on the 31st, unfortunately on arrival from a late night flight from perth , as previously booked and reconfirmed the previous day by e mail from us to the hotel we found that they had no accomadation booked for us and our two friends we were travelling with, After a lot of sorting out we were told as there were people leaving at approximately 5.ooam in the morning the hotel would be able to provide us with accomadation, I was very dissapointed at the arrangements, we were offered no refunds or anything to make up for this mistake."

"The most important thing to us was the proximity to the Singapore Cricket Club for the rugby sevens tournament. We like the hotel, we just find it very inconveninet that the receiption and everything else is up several floors from ground level. "

"The hotel is old an needs renovation. The room are rather dark and not very clean. The breakfast is poor and has no taste but there is enough food. Except from the reception the staff speaks poor English. The only plus sign is it's location. "

"Great value for money. I stayed in Excelsior tower that is slightly worn out but overall room was clean and good sized (actually I got upgraded room - bigger size corner room). Peninsula tower is already upgraded and looks much better but I think is more expensive. Breakfast was good and everybody might something to his like. That's true that the same is served everyday but ther is enough variety to feed yourself and not to be bored for a few days. The high grade is for location - shopping malls just around the corner, short walk to marina bay and espalande, literraly 5 min walk to fort canning park (oasis of silence), 3 min walk to MRT city hall station. Probably would stay again, book through asiarooms.com as they have the best rate for this hotel. "

"The hotel is good generally. The rust wore please with an automatic kettle, and include soil. And, the traffic is good. "

"I've been staying at this property since years and will continue to stay simply because of the location and the price of the room...It suits a normal business man and even tourists who are on a budget..."
2/5  Posted by MR. YOUNGER, David, Australia in September 2007
"Location ok , but the hotel a disgrace . Old and out of touch with other hotels in Singapore , when we arrived about 2pm they could not find our booking , then we eventually got our room , it wasn't the best , and the electric kettle didn,t work .Breakfast the food was stale as if its been sitting around for ages . When you are at reception , check out the swimming pool opposite , you can see swimmers from under the water and they can,t see you ! I would not recommend this hotel !"
