I had read the reviews that criticised its distance from the underground and that is fair, but the taxi service is excellent and cheap. We hired a cab for the night and toured the sights of Singapore, using one called to the Hotel. The City has trained up many of its cabbies as tour guides. The hotel service was amazing - almost too attentive at times - and the room on the 23rd floor gave a magnificent view over the harbour. It was possible to sit in the bath in the large bathroom and admire the sights outside! Slippers and robes meant lounging in the main room was a treat. Breakfast was international, with a vast choice from Chinese dishes, through Japanese and Indian, to more traditional (for us in the West) fare of croissants, pastries, cheeses and cereals. This hotel is not cheap, but it is excellent. We aim to go back and try the health club/keep fit, the music bar for evenings and the restaurant; if breakfast is anything to go by. Well done Ritz Singapore, especially Diane who ensured we felt welcomed and looked after.

| "There is no doubt that the marina view room we had at this hotel was huge, with wonderful views particularly from the bath and a wonderful shower! However, the view is currently somewhat marred by the huge amount of building works being carried out around the Marina and the hotel should make this clear on their web-site. We didn't enjoy breakfast - the dining room was absolutely enormous and noisy and the choice of food wasn't as wide as it should have been for a hotel of this size and rating. We didn't bother going down for breakfast on day 2 as it didn't seem worth the trouble. Also they clear everything away promptly at 10.30 am. However, the location of this hotel is very convenient (Raffles Hotel less than 10 min walk and a huge shopping mall adjacent to the hotel) whilst also being outside the hustle and bustle of Orchard Road. Overall this hotel is convenient and rooms very large but it is over-priced." |
