"Old hotel, you need require new renovated room. Convenient price and location"

"A bit old, needs a refurbishment. The location however is very good."

"We stayed for 4 nights and had booked 2 rooms. Rooms and bathrooms are small. The picture (!) window in the room doesnot open so there is stale air and very strong smell of cigarette smoke (it lingers even in fresh bedsheets and towels). We shifted to non smoking floor so that was taken care of. Pool and gym are not worth mentioning. The breakfast is good but repetitive. The hotel has a good location and is very close to MRT, Bugis, 24 hr food courts, 24hr McD, money changer and walking distance(10-15 mins) to Esplanade, Suntec, Orchard road. The place is not a 4 star but is value for money and a good base for exploring the city. "

"Modest aaccommodation, the rooms need refurnished in terms of bath room and wardrobe. However, the staff are friendly and helpful. We had an early check in at 9:30 am after we arrived at the hotel at 7:20am. Coupons for coffee were offered for us in the restaurant for refreshment."

"A low 3-stars hotel in a good location. Except for the lobby, the hotel is showing its age (battered and rundown). Need major renovation to become a good 3 or 4 stars hotel. Room rate is reasonable considering the high Singapore's cost-of-living."
4/5  Posted by MS. WRIGHT, Margaret, Australia in June 2008
"The reception was welcoming and the staff were helpful. The room smelt of tobacco smoke, but because I was only there for 2 nights and out most of the time I did not bother to say anything,so that is my own fault. The breakfast was good value."

"Hotel declaration is 4 stars, but infact only 2 stars, I think. Room and bathroom is very very dirty. Breakfast is bad. Service not good. I never stay at this hotel again! "

"I was quite disappointed with the condition of the bathroom as the paint were coming off and the shower + bath tub were in bad condition. The mattresses were a little too soft. Breakfast was bad. However, the service was great and for the amount of money paid, it is ok."
3/5  Posted by MS. FELIC, Gordana, Australia in May 2008
"The air conditioning system generates high level of noise in the rooms!!!! Also it was set to below 20 degrees, too cold. Everything else was not too bad."
5/5  Posted by MR. MORGAN, Michael, United Kingdom in May 2008
"We enjoyed our stay at the Royal and the breakfasts were very welcome. All facilities were exelent "
