"Excellent location to experience the real Singapore with great food and great local shops within walking distance. Absolutely in the middle of the overseas Chinese culture! Room is very small and many things falling apart but clean with good service."

"the room is small and dirty. The door lock didn't work. Poor breakfast. Staff are friendly and helpful. It is too expensive in terms of the facilities being provided."

"We stayed in an attic room, As previous reviews stated, there is no window. This is fine as we were only in it at night for sleeping. You do wonder what time it is though when you wake up with no daylight visible. Room was small and clean and cosy. Working fridge and TV. The toiet has a shutter door so obviously smells might be a problem but otherwise it was basic but useable. The roof leaked a little though. Location is great as very close to the MRT and right in Chinatown. Room is cheapest going in Chinatown really. There are several hotels all close together and obviously if you want a more hip room, there are choices available. Lots of reasonably priced restaurants, bars very nearby and a few great little furniture /house stuff shops as well."

"While conveniently located in Chinatown and close to Outram Park MRT, the Royal Peacock is poor value for money. I had a shabby attic room with a broken lock on the louvered bathroom door, inadequate lighting and no window to the world outside. Dirty tiles and patches of mould on the bathroom ceiling and around the shower base made a poor impression. The poorly-painted corridor outside had a filthy carpet and and an air conditioner that dripped water. The elevator was also very dirty. In keeping with the general tone of the place, the staff at reception were unwelcoming and unfriendly. A few courtesies such as 'please' or 'thank you' and a few more smiles would have made my stay more pleasant. On a more positive note, the buffet-style breakfast (included) was adequate and the dining room attractively presented. Singapore generally seems to have a severe shortage of clean, medium priced accommodation. In various visits to the country over the past 6 years, I have stayed in four different hotels but they have all been disappointing. Regrettably, the Royal Peacock was no exception. "

"The room is ok. However, there is a smell in the room that makes me feeling uncomfortable. The housekeeper did not change as well as wash the tea cup that we used the day before. I would not recommend couple whould like comfortable room for resting. "

"Small room for the price. Noisy, noisy neighborhood but near central Chinatown. 2 Metro stations about 5 minute walk away. Leaky shower onto floor. Minibar very minimally cold. Air conditioner dirty and not very effective even after I observed that they attempted to fix it!!! Room cleaned efficiently every day at requested time and breakfast adequate. Only 1 public use computer near lobby which was free but frequently occupied. Squeeky noisy floors in corridor leading to room. Overall, would consider this hotel one notch above budget but certainly not worth the price being charged per night. Location very good except noisy at night. Not sure if I would stay here again - maybe at a half of the price charged. Hopefully this is helpful to others. "

"The room was clean and tidy. It also has a small refrigerator which suit our needs. When the refrigerator was not working, engineering team came within 3 minutes and replace it immediately. Very efficient service! Room is small but still acceptable. Bathroom is extremely small. We also loved the PC with free iternet access at the hall. However, since our room was street facing, street noise was heard in the room and sometimes the glass window was vibrating when a truck passed by. One more thing, the room does not have enough ventilation, when we first got into the room, they put too much air refreshner that end up irritating our nose for a while."

"Location is accessible, close to chinatown, bus station and outram park mrt station. Room was smaller than what we expected, toilet was quite small w/o bathtub but was tidy. The room has free LAN cable but somehow I was not able to access the internet. Cable TV has very limited selections, I believe the cable has less than ten channels I was only able to watch BBC news and Star movies only sorry guys no HBO! Breakfast is ok, though food selections are few but they changed the menu everyday. Overall I find the price expensive if I am comparing against same category hotel in other asian country, but in Singapore i think the price will do."

"What a delightful place to stay. The room was small but it was tastefully decorated and clean. Staff were helpful and friendly. The restaurant was reasonably priced and breakfast was great. No in-room safe though but it's possible to leave valuables at reception. Two MRT stations within easy walk and Chinatown not far away with good eateries there. I would recommend this hotel to others and would stay there again."
