"We were a little dubious about our choice of Hotel at first but were more than happy when we arrived. The service was excellent, very friendly and efficient. The location, being on the edge of Chinatown and within easy walking distance of two Mass Rapid Transit stations made it easy to visit all parts of the city. We liked the free internet service in room, having taken our own laptop. Some more expensive hotels charged a lot for this but not at the Scarlet. We had a small problem with the internet cable socket but a call to reception had someone to fix it within minutes! The breakfast included in our room rate was more than adequate and again the service was very good. During our stay it was my birthday and when the hotel saw my cards in the room, a small cake was placed with a card from the hotel in the room, a nice surprise on our return from a day out. On the whole our room was good, it lacked a proper window so we did not know what the weather was like until we went to breakfast, but this was a small matter and we would not hesitate to stay again."

"the room is ok breakfast is perfect suggest to accept early check-in, i.e. noon instead of 2:00 p.m."

"My husband & I had a stopover in Singapore recently and were very pleased that we decided to choose the "Scarlet hotel" on the edge of China Town, it is set in traditional old shop front houses. The room was a little small but made up for in there attention to detail. They have two restaurants we only got to dine in the rooftop one and found the food, service and ambience very good, there are also plenty of other choices for dinning close to the Hotel. the B'fast was included in the price,if you are expecting a huge buffet with choices its not, but you have heard the saying quality not quantity, and quality it certainly was. Everything else we needed was very close by, including the sub-way which gave us access to the rest of Singapore. The bed was one of the comfiest we had slept on, and we have travelled alot and slept in many. Thank you Asiarooms.com & the Scarlet Hotel we enjoyed our stay and would certainly return if staying in Singapore again, and I am sure we will. Ann & Rob - Brisbane - Australia "

"A very stylish, comfortable and welcoming hotel in a good location. The amenities were high standard. I could have used a larger room however. The brunch was great. I ordered a taxi from the front desk but they arranged the most expensive 'deluxe' taxi, it was more than double the price of a regular taxi. The staff were all very friendly and professional. I can't wait to come back!"

"The Scarlet is a very nice, romantic hotel located near the center of Chinatown. It´s interieur is very special. Our room was small but very nice and clean. The roomservice was very good and so was the service in the restaurant and at the reception. The subway station is near and in the neighbourhood you can find many restaurants (e.g. an Asian foodhall) near the hotel. Also a SevenEleven is next to the hotel. When we come back to Singapore the next time we´ll surely come back to Scarlet."

"A comfortable and beautifully furnished small hotel in a great location. Excellent breakfast too."

"Hotel stay was for business at end of March 2008. I decided to try a boutique hotel instead of the usual large hotel chain variety. My check in was handled very well. I was prepared for room being small, as I had read other reviews. But for someone planning to work at the desk, it would have been hard. The space is very, very tight. The gym was small too and the equimpent was not the best. I ate breakfast in the hotel each morning, and while the food was good, my order was forgotten one morning, and I sat waiting for nearly 30 mins, even though the restaurant was not busy at the time. Only other compaint was that maintenance was being done in lobby at 5:45am one morning and there was tremendous banging. That was absurd. Hotel is well suited for couples as it has romantic decor. Rooftop lounge and hot tub were very nice."

"very friendly and helpful staff here. A tucked away location close to chinatown which cab drivers don't seem to know, which was a bit of a drag. Very nice decor and pleasant room despite no window. Had a nice but pricey meal in the restaurant and forgot we had breakfast included, so missed that. Would recommend it and would stay again."

"The room was disappointingly small and altho' a great deal of thought had been put into the theme of the hotel it was let down to some extent by the fact that the decor is getting a bit tatty now and could do with freshening up. The staff however are first class being friendly, very helpful and cheerful. This extends from the reception staff to restaurant, bar and housekeeping staff. Breakfasts were excellent in both preparation and presentation with agood choice but the evening meal we had, altho' well presented, was grossly over priced. Bar costs too were high."

"Quality theme boutique hotel in Chinatown which did not pay off for me.Good for seeing the sights of Chinatown but not for other Singapore areas. My room only had a skylight which made it feel like a dungeon and lacked oddment space. Good large comfortable bed which probably fits in with the Scarlet hotels theme. Friendly staff. The Scarlet Restaurant offered international food which again did not quite meet expectations but there is a choice of an alternative "Mediterranean" restaurant.Might have been better to have had one of the restaurants as a quality Chinese restaurant in a Chinatown hotel. Unfortunately did not meet expectations."
