I stayed in Scarlet Hotel from 16-18 July 2007 after returning from Bintan. The standard room was smaller than what we expected after viewing all the relevant reviews. We had no space to open our luggage and could only put the luggage on the only one chair in room. We are very disappointed as all the standard rooms were "without window". We also asked for upgrading to superior room with window but the additional charge was about S$200/room/night that was not reasonable and unacceptable. As the hotel built with wood structure, we were disturbed by the noise from the corridor and upper storey.
The services and breakfast were in good quality. Toilet and shower room were clean. The location was quite close to Maxwell food centre, Lau Pa Sat food centre and Smith Street (so called food street) in Chinatown. I did not recommend this hotel to family and senior as we need to walk through a long and inclined corridor to go to the street. We will not stay in this hotel again.

"Great hotel, good service, excellent location. Quite near to the vivid center of China town with its many restaurants and shops. A bit further away from the shopping area around orchard road, but a taxi drive will take you there in 15 minutes and taxis are cheap in Singapore. Personell is very friendly and helpful, the hotel looks quite classy. I did not like the website and brochures of the hotel very much, that suggests something else than what it really offers: a professional business with good service."

"The scaltet is a hotel atmosphere sophisticated elegant design. Staff kind. Excellent breakfast served in the restaurant Desirč. I housed in a chamber executive and I have to say that the size of the room are very small. I dare not think the size of standard or deluxe rooms. Maybe suites are more comfortable."

"Being a Business Traveller who visits Singapore on a monthly basis, the Scarlet fulfilled my need for a hotel that has the amenities for work (ie. free & fast internet connection in-room), is located close to my clients' offices and to the CBD, has dependable yet unobtrusive service, beautifully kept and lastly have a unique ambience that is unlike the regular large hotel chains. I loved the Scarlet and highly reccommend it to the weary road-warrior who wants a breath of fresh air, peace & quiet but with nightlife right round the corner in Chinatown. The highlights of my stay were the staff's willingness to accomodate my need for breakfast at 5:30am (way before regular opening hours), taxi waiting to whisk me on time for my 7:50am flight. Did I mention that the intern even successfully sorted out my broken luggage-lock ? Great service. "
