Hotel Review posted by wendy HATTRELL, Canada in March 2003

The hotel pool is a bonus - spacious and attractive it keeps the sun until dusk. The rooms were on the small side and the bed rather hard, but otherwise comfortable with good service.
The main disadvantage is the position of the hotel which is away from the main shopping and tourist areas, but we found taxis readily available and reasonably priced. We liked the hotel and would stay there again.

| "This hotel is a very good value for money at discounted rates through an agent. The price might be too steep directly buying rooms from the hotel directly.
The service at this hotel is outstanding by staff of all levels - from maintenance personnel, passing through bell boys and chamber maids, to the top dog manager-.
I spent one afternoon at the club floor by invitation of a colleague. It was really good. I do not have enough information to comment at top club member level, but the little I witnessed, the business traveller is well taken care of.
This is one great hotel worthwhile returning again and again.

| "Generally speaking, this hotel is ok, especially for businessman. But it may not be ideal for families or couples as there are not enough facilities. The restaurants are not as good as I expected...so as its service. I expect it to be better, particularly when it is run by the Shangri-la group." |

| "Myself and my husband stayed at Traders from 15-18 July. The most disappointing aspect of the stay was the size of the room. We had booked a deluxe non smoking room - which was what we got, but it was very small. It seems that on the internet all the pictures must be of Club rooms/suites, as there was certainly no room for any kind of settee in our room - as per photos on internet. Anyway apart from that, the facilities in the room itself were all there and adequate. The staff at the hotel were all polite. The breakfast buffet was extremely good. Breakfasts from around the world really. I also have to make special mention to Ramu, the lady in the Business Centre who helped us get home after a mix up with the flights (yes holiday from hell dilemma) missed the flight - possibly no direct flight back to Cape Town for several days - but we did get a flight back the same day (indirect) after several phone calls (and lots of bucks) - husband only just talking to me. Singapore and Orchard Road, great shops though, pity you can't afford to buy anything there! - great coffee shops and beautiful restaurants just behind hotel.

| "It is a lovely hotel but a little out of the way from the main shopping areas. It advertises that it is within walking distance from the MRT if you choose to catch the train from the airport. I can tell you it is a fair hike and there is no way it should be advertised as being within walking distance if you're hauling a suitcase. On the plus side it had the most comfortable bed and pillows we have ever had on a holiday. Also the breakfast is second to none, fantastic. Overall a lovely hotel with good facilities." |
