I just arrived home after 2 night at memorable Mandarin Hotel and continuing 2 terible night at York Hotel and need urgently to write these to other traveler.
Although they have good property and location, but the management is very bad, its reservation administration work like Motel Administration. The frontline staff doesn't have any sense of service at all to their customer. The reception even didn't care of our travel agent's request for connecting room and non smoking room, more over the Assistant Senior Manager & the Duty Manager with an easy words blaming the travel agent for the mistake. It's never happen to my experience stay in various Singapore hotel. In fact, after a very long anger arguing, then we could move to the non smoking room.
The cashier look like angry and shocked me up with her bad languages when i asked 2 hours check out extention for 1 of my 2 room because of my evening flight and my baby preparation for the flight. She look like a food street trader to me compare to the International Cashier hotel.
The breakfast was poor and there is no Kiblah direction for Moslem Praying as some of hotel customer is Indonesian Moslem.
Ironically the bottom line staff did clean up my room and the trainee Bel Boys was worked better. They more friendly and much attention to the guest.
York is assumed for the last choice at orchard area unless you have another choice hotel for family holiday. The staff. own self have made their nice work place looking horrible place.

| "Had to change rooms due to heavy paint smell form renovations and the toilet kept backing up. The staff however, did try to resolve the problems in a prompt manner.
The hotel is in a very central location to shopping on Orchard and 2 minute walk from Mt. Elzibeth Hospital.

| "It was very convenient to Mt Elizabeth where my husband and I had to visit everyday. Our first room smelled so bad from the renovation from the floor below the staff moved us as soon as another room was made available. Apparently all the rooms have the same color and decor and no pictures which is boring but it was clean and nice size. If the breakfast was better quality and tastier I would have no problem staying here again. The staff were generally friendly. It is a no nonsense, no frills hotel within easy walk of Orchard Road and the MRT. " |
