I think I was the frist Hawaiian to ever stay on the island let alone this resort. I spent a week with family of 4 and it was too long in one place.. with no beach. The grounds were spectacular and the 5 acred park rolling down like a meadow to the large Koi pond with gazebo. The walking path is ideal for morning exercise, there are flat grass standing pads for wedding photos, morning tai chi. picnics, sleeping and cloud watching.
The palm trees reminded me of Hawaii and I had a picnic there one afternoon with bread, fruit, smoked fish and a nice Cabernet. The large round platform at oceans edge was idea for morning hula training that I enjoyed with grandmother. The breakfast and dinner buffet was good but it was also the only rest. option and after a week, enough buffet. I want a burger. Also an omlette chef would make the breakfast buffet much more first class and worth the price. I loved the Kereoke room, tea room, gym was nice, indoor pool should have open windows on ocean side.
The rooms could use one nice painting on an otherwide very naked white wall. I recommend that KAL Hotel have dancing in the Kereoke room as not many people used it and they would all come down to dance.. gotta dance in main lounge too.. some nice swing music or Hawiian hula lessons in afternoon would be a hit. Spa was ok.. but massage therapy should include Hawaiian Lomilomi if you are saying you are the Hawaii of Korea.
I took a $2 cab to town to get traditional Korean Jehu-do breakfast for $5.. The American restaurant at the entrance to the expansive hotel property has good beef. The town center was boring and I could not even find a good cup of coffee or outdoor cafe or a cool Jeju-do t-shirt. Not many people speak English especially the cabs do not even read road map in English.. but that is ok.. I was not expecting them to. I enjoyed first class lounge at KAL and recommend upgrading for a few $$ more to avoid coach class lines. it is worth it to pay a few more won and fly to Hawaii where the energy of island living is more easy and you can go in the water... where the girls are beautiful and there is music and dancing ...
I recommend renting a car as it is easy to drive around the island. If you go up to Halasan it is great..hiking.. not for seniors with bad legs. The beach by the Hyatt is very exclusive, but lunch at the Hyatt for 3 was $90. The trip to the folk village was a half day affair and the shit eating pigs were a big attraction and the meat tasted really .. yummmy.. Now having daily regularity.. lets me say "I am going to feed the pigs." I recommend the submarine ride.. they will give you free ride on boat and sub and also free van back to hotel. Buy the pics, it is a once in a lifetime deal.. Take the hike to the little waterfall at the same time as they share a parking lot.
The hot air balloon ride and maze were worth the price... but other than that.. the island to me did not have enough beaches as a whole.. they water does not warm up ti June.. and the casino was just a casino.

| "Overall experience was good and pleasant, the sea view was good too. No comments on the facilities and food though as I spent most my time out and about the island. " |

| "The location of the hotel is very beautiful. There are wonderful views of the ocean. It is secluded and not within convenient walking distance to any attractions. The restaurant inside the hotel is overpriced. The food is good but breakfast alone is $20. The room although having an amazing view was quite small and it was difficult to control the temperature. Also, the humidity made the room always feel wet. It also did not include things normally seen in rooms like a tea pot or shampoo in the bathroom. Any extras cost extra. The biggest turn off for the hotel is the extra cost to use the gym or swimming pool. It is not included in the room cost. I had chose the hotel in part for the facilities. I was disappointed to have to shell out more money to use them. The one benefit of the hotel was the business area where you could check your email. This service was included. I will pick somewhere else for my next trip." |

| "Overall, a very nice hotel. The room was simple and clean. If you ask for a room with a view of the ocean, the scenery is beautiful. The beds and bedding are comfortable and nice. Location is the only reason I would not stay again. Not the place if you are looking for a beach or many of the attractions. Unfortunately the pool was closed and not listed as closed when we reserved the room. Nice gym facilites and walking distance from gorgeous waterfalls and scenery. Service was great. The concierge was always very attentive and they did well communicating in English. The resteraunt and room service were very expensive and there was not alot to eat in walking distance. Very well set up for business conferences or weddings. I would definetly stay again if the location was more suitable for beach travelers and tourism." |

| "The Hotel and staff were wonderful. The cost of the room was very reasonable for the quality, in part because we were visiting during their slow time. The cost of the food at the hotel was very high. The room rate had been reduced for their slow time but not the other services. There was no children's menu. If you are there with a family, I suggest you try to arrange a package with the Hotel that includes food, plan on eating elsewhere or buy food at the market in town and picnic.
It was disapointing that the outdoor pool was not in operation. The indoor pool was nice but expensive for a family. " |
