The Hamilton was functional as a hotel and located nice and close to the subway at Itewon. Itewon is a good place for english speaking tourists to use as a base in Seoul, as this area has status as a 'special tourist zone' and so is a good spot to come back to when your brain starts to hurt. As far as the hotel goes, you get what you pay for. It's not flashy, but its practical and even though i read some reviews that the staff are a little brusque, I found them to be able to perform their jobs well enough. If you need any real assistance though - ask the bell boys, they are tops. Some tips for the short stay tourist: 1. Get the Tcard straight away. I stayed 5 nights and used about 10,000won. 2. Go to Myeong-dong on the subway and walk north to Insadong, stopping off at the newly uncovered stream that used to run through the city on the way. 3. Go up Seoul tower early on, pick some landmarks and brave a walk. 4. Rent bikes outside Yeouinaru subway and just ride for a while in either direction. 5. Head to Yongsan and spend a whole day in the sauna and korean baths at Dragon Bathhouse (not sure what it's actually called, but it's nine stories of fun).

"I've stayed here many times. I live in Korea and it's a great location in Itaewon. If you are looking for a good locale next to the subway and lots of western food it's a good place to stay. If you're looking for a place to experience Korean culture then stay near Jongno, City Hall, or elsewhere. Itaewon is packed with Americans, Europeans, Middle Eastern, Japanese, etc. It's a fun place, but not the real Korean experience."

"I was on business for my school in New Zealand. I stayed at the Hamilton Hotel for 3 nights, and by day was going out to visit agents and students' parents. In the evenings or early mornings I used the hotel's Business Centre for emailing. Everything about the Hamilton Hotel suited me just fine. I enjoyed my stay there. Staff were helpful and friendly. I also met a range of good people among the other guests. Martin Greentree Auckland, NZ"

"I was immediately disappointed when I walked into my room at the Hamilton. For ninety dollars a night, I expected more than a clean, version of a Howard Johnson from the sixties awaiting me. The bed, while comfortable, was covered only with a cheap woolen blanket, which was an immediate turnoff for me. The carpet, the furniture, the bathroom. Everything, while again, well-cleaned, screamed out-of-date hotel. We were really looking forward to the pool, but unbeknown to us, the pool is open to the public and has the reputation as a bit of a party spot. On a warm day, people begin arriving shortly after the 10 AM opening time, whereupon the drinking and loud music begins. It was not the relaxing pool atmosphere that any sensible hotel would offer, but more like something you would see on a singles cruise ship. Even little things, like the internet room, really disappointed me. The computers were ancient, and in order to access the internet (3000 won for 30 minutes), I had to go down to the front desk and sign for it (as opposed to them giving me the password and username over the phone), which wouldn't be that big of a deal I guess, if the elevators themselves weren't straight from the fifties and didn't take fifteen minutes to get from the 5th floor internet room to the 1st floor front desk and back again. All that being said, the location, right in the middle of Itaewon, is a fantastic spot from which to enjoy all the culinary delights that this area can offer. Quick and easy access to the subway, with most of the major hot spots no more than five or six stops away. Bottom line is, that while the Hamilton is certainly stayable, the product it offers for the price it charges certainly makes it terrible value in my books. I've stayed in love motels for 30 thousand won that will give me just as satisfying an experience. "

"The room was a nice size and well furnished. However, the TV did not work and we had to call the desk to send someone up to fix it. The towels in the bathroom had hairs on them. The bathmat in the tub was crooked and when I picked it up to straighten it, it was apparent that it had not been cleaned under in some time. When it was time to check out, the desk clerk answered the phone after starting to help us and proceeded to talk on the phone and address that customer before finishing with us. I thought she should have put that person on hold. "
