The Sofitel Ambassador was a great base to explore Seoul city from. It's location is very convinient - a 5 minute walk away from Dongguk University subway station on Line 3 - it is close to many of the historical sights of Seoul as well as to shopping areas. There is a KAL Limousine bus that will drop you directly from Incheon airport to the hotel and that costs 13,000 won per person. In addition to this there is a free shuttle bus service provided by the hotel that goes around to many of the tourist attractions in northern Seoul. This was especially useful to us on the first day when we wanted to get a general sense of the city.
Our room was slightly small but very clean and comfortable. No complaints about the bathroom either. The staff were friendly whenever we had any questions and could speak English well enough.
One piece of advice, instead of using the black deluxe taxis waiting just outside the hotel, ask the staff to call a regular taxi for you. This proves to be significantly less expensive.
Overall, the Sofitel's key advantages are a great location and no-nonsense, hassle free service at good value.

"Location is not too bad, a 10 minute walk from the closest subway station. However, many taxi drivers do not know whether the hotel is actually situated. Great swimming pool, average fitness facilities. Charges at the hotel's bar are pretty pricey, if not ridiculously expensive: you may be charged almost 10 euros for an espresso. Also, sending a fax to Italy (one page, 20 seconds) turned out to cost slightly more than 5 euros. Breakfast costs in the region of 20 euros - probablyt it's the normal rate for a hotel in Seoul - so I can't object. Staff at reception could smile a little more, concierge very professional - with a kinder approach - on the other hand. The driver of the hotel shuttle proved to be one of the kindest Koreans I've met in my trip. All in all, quite a good deal, though I may tend to choose another hotel, next time, a bit closer (say on foot) to downtown - city hall/myeng dong."

"Generally good except that the broadband access is not free. Should provide that as added value."

"Upon check-in, we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded from a standard room to a business suite as they were unable to cater to our request of a non-smoking room. Even without the upgrade, I believe the rate is very good value for money, compared to other hotels of a similar price and stars. Although more catered to business travellers, the hotel's location (5 mins walk from metro station and only a few stops from the main city centre), quality, and the fact that it is one of about only 10 hotels in the city to offer direct transfer to the airport by KAL limousine bus (at a very reasonable rate) made this hotel a very good choice. Would stay again!"
