"Kensingston Stars Hotel is located about 10 minutes walk to Mt Sorak - very convenient and the walk is very scenic. The hotel decors, furnishings, amenities is English and lovely and ambience very romantic. Only regret is that I only managed to book for 1 night. The front desk staff are helpful and can converse in English fluently and another staff who can speak Mandarin also. I was very impressed with the front desk officer who attended to us when we check in. We only ask him for the public bus schedule and told him we were leaving early next morning to catch 1st public bus back to Sokcho to take express bus to Chun Cheon. Without telling us, he actually when to check to ensure we got the correct express bus terminal address which we should be taking in Sokcho and tracked us down to 'The Kensingston Shop' where we were shopping to pass us the information - that's really proactive customer service. It's also very convenient to take public bus (about 30 mins ride) to Sokcho, town area for very fresh seafood, sashimi and other local delicacies. "

"It's a very lovely hotel with romance and an English ambience in the air. Only problem is that the double rooms which we were given are pretty small ! The location can be a plus or a minus. It is only about 10 minutes walk to the Mount Soeraksan National Park, so the country ambience is fantastic. But it takes a while to get to the city centre. However, there is a bus-stop right outside the hotel and you can take either Bus Service No. 7 or 7-1 to get to the city centre. The journey takes about 45 to 50 mins. On the whole, a lovely hotel for romantics !"

"The location was great! My wife and another couple with myself really enjoyed the hiking and the scenery. The service of the bellboy and the desk clerks were professional, courteous, and honest. So were the employees at the hotel restaurants. My suggestion is to improve the quality of food in the restaurants. It was okay, but not of quality expected for the price of the meal. The service was great. Overall I enjoyed the trip and will recommend it to my fellow co-workers and friends! Thank you."

"My friends and I had an amazing 2 night stay at the Kensington. Everyone was polite and the rooms were beautiful. The only complaint that I do have is that on the first night of our stay we were put in a side bedroom overlooking the parking lot. The room was still very pretty and we just assumed it was b/c we had booked w/ a discount online agent. But when we walked down the hall on our floor we noticed that more than half of the rooms (w/ the view of the mountains) were empty! Then when we were having dinner w/ our friends they mentioned that they had a balcony! After talking to them a bit more we realized that they were given a very large, beautiful room facing the mountains. The room was much larger than ours, as was the bathroom. My boyfriend and I were really upset b/c all of us had booked through the same site, and we had actually booked our room about 2 weeks before they did! As soon as we mentioned this to the staff they were more than helpful and told us that we could move into a better room the next night. We were happy w/ that, but we do wish that we were intially given one of the larger rooms w/ the view and balcony. Other than that, the hotel was beautiful, the location was perfect, and the hotel restaurant wasn't bad either. It's perfect if you're in the mood for a fun weekend in the beautiful mountains. But don't go there expecting any nightlife or wild bars. The nearest town is Sokcho, and even there nothing was really going on. There is a neat lighthouse there, and some nice restaurants. But it's more of a quiet town. We had a great time there, and I would recommend the hotel to everyone."

"Kensington was an absolute gem ! Location right next to the entrance to Mt Soeraksan. Rooms were absolutely interesting with the different movie-stars-themed, sports-stars-themed etc. The kids and I spend quite a few interesting hours looking at all the memorabilia of the stars.Very olde-world English charm. Staff speaks excellent English, in fact the best I heard in Korea. Right next to the hotel is the bus stop and with typical Korean efficiency bus no 7 comes regularly to bring you to Sokcho for more fun! Strongly recommended especially for the incomparable location."

"We stayed in this hotel in Jan 2006 and it was decorated with very nice and classic Christmas decorations. The hotel is really beautiful and thus you can take great photos. The singer there sang very well too. We had a very pleasant stay in the hotel."

"Very good location. Next to entrance of Mt. Sorak Nat. Park. From Sokchu express bus terminal, bus no. 7 or 7.1 (20mins, Spore$1.50) direct to bus stop facing hotel. Excellent service, friendly staff. Comfortable rooms with beautiful mountain views. Good Korean and Western restaurants in hotel (suitable after long day of trekking) but better choice of food in Sokchu city. No swimming pool. Luxurious accommodation for the serious trekker."
