| "First of all I’d just like to make it very clear to all interested in staying in "Hunas Falls in Kandy Sri Lanka" that it is not actually "IN" Kandy. Hunas Falls is actually an approximate 28KM outside of Kandy and 15KM (an hours drive) up a mountain in Elkaduwa. So if you have planned your trip to do and see things around Kandy as I did, I wouldn't recommend staying in Hunas Falls, because once your there it requires extra travel time and more expensive taxi journeys to get anywhere, your pretty much stuck there. This annoyed me because if I’d known the exact location of Hunas Falls I wouldn't have stayed there as I was planning on doing a lot of treks and activities within Kandy that required arriving on location early in the morning to catch the sunrise. This was all now stunted as I would have had to have left even earlier and pay even more. However once arriving at the Hotel I asked them why they had advertised Hunas Falls as a Kandy Hotel and their response was "because no one knows Elkaduwa". Even though all my plans had now changed and I was forced to stay in Hunas Falls due to my travel budget and the fact that I couldn't cancel my reservation we still ended up having a good time at the Hotel due to all the facilities available. We managed to go trekking in the surrounding area, play golf & badminton. We would have also liked to have been able to use make use of the Ayurvedic Spa treatments that were available, however the one therapist that worked in the spa was sick for the 3 days that we were there. We also noticed that when we were directed to go to the golf hut to get golf clubs or to the pool house to get the badminton rackets – after a lot of looking around for assistance to which we could not find anyone we were eventually always helped by the same old man who was actually a gardener, not a pool assistant or a golf caddie – but a very helpful and attentive gardener. I would recommend this Hotel to newly weds or couples as a romantic get away, however not for travelers who want to explore and do things around the area because once your there, you pretty much stay there! | "The area of the hotel was amazing but the hotel it self is very poor.
Unfortunately it is the only choice there. There staff was very poor and there is a smell in the room and it is not clean. I remember that once I asked the housekeeping for something for about 10 times, each time there are saying OK we will bring you that for about 2 hours until l i came down and met the manger." |

| "The drive from downtown Kandy to Hunas Falls Hotel was a long one that took an hour and involved ascending a one lane dirt road full of massive pot holes (more pot holes than road). By the next day, I had serious back and neck aches from the ride up and down (descending also took an hour). Check-in was slow and the reservation girl was clueless and kept blushing and apologizing (for being new) as she checked us in and repeated the same useless information without answering our questions. The actual room was ok, but below average and the bathroom and shower ranked 3/10. The food at the restaurant was all made from frozen and preserved food (although there was fresh pineapple, papaya, and watermelon for breakfast), which the next day left me in a food coma from the preservatives. The breakfast was gross - eggs were way undercooked and there wasn't even fresh milk to go with basic cereal. Service was below average. At times I noticed our waitress expected us to help her out with moving dishes, etc. Will definitely NOT go here again." |
